Reasonable expectations the rest of the season

I think it is pretty clear Oregon, @UCLA, @ASU, and @Washington are no-hopers. They could get really ugly.

That leaves Arizona, Cal, USC, and @Utah for the other conference games. None of these teams is top 25 caliber. Three are at home and this team usually plays Utah with confidence. Considering how hard it is to go winless in conference play, we should be able to win one out of four. Add in a makeup game against a cupcake (potentially FCS) and that gives us 4-8 with some other competitive games. Don't think this is a major stretch one way or the other.

I think that is exactly what is going to happen. We are going to win at least 1 conference game (probably only 1). And we should win the makeup game depending on the circumstances. If we play better in the games we lose, than we have achieved all that could have been reasonably hoped for this season.

Still think Neinas is on the hot seat and should be gone by end of season if he can't get them to perform well in all aspects by the end of the season.

Very reasonable assessment, and truth be told, it's pretty much in line with what I would have considered a solid first year for Big Mac. I would hope that the staff would be able to spin a four win season to finish with a good push in recruiting and set us up to take another step in 2014. I will say that I wouldn't be shocked for us to steal two conference games and possibly push for a five win season.

Yesterday brought us back to 2012. We hoped it would be more competive but cu just doesn't have enough speed or athletes to compete right now. I see one maybe two more wins. Just fight and try to not get humiliated every week.

No

Fair assessment, IMO. I still think we can find another three wins somewhere in the group that includes UA, Cal, UU, and a yet to be named team. USC just got a lot less likely to win.

Exactly what I'm expecting assuming the OOC game is added. This team will win a conference game. 4-8 is a fine start for MacIntyre.

Revert backt o our preseason expacctations: 3-9 would be a pretty good start. 4-8 with 2 Pac wins would be great.

Chance against Zona and Cal
USC - depends on how injured and disarrayed they are
Utes - personally have no reason to believe this won't be a loss at this point
Makeup game - depends on who we play
One maybe two more wins and I'm still hoping to see a more competitive team in most of the losses.-

Duff looks to be absolutely correct. 4-8 is absolutely possible and likely.

We are still way behind the conference leaders in talent. I see some positive signs but we were still way behind Oregon State who are themselves way behind Oregon, UW, Stanford.

At least one team we play is likely to lay an egg, have a bad game, and give us the opening to steal a win. Add to that the fill in game and you have 4 wins.

Even with three we would be way ahead of last year. This game last year would have seen OSU scoring 60+ with Riley taking his foot off the gas. Yes we got blown out but OSU worked to do it and we didn't give up in the process. Last year we would not have seen the 14 second half points unless the D just gave them to us because the Buff players wouldn't have had it together enough to score them.

4 Wins also makes a huge difference going into the off-season. Kids want to win. In terms of recruiting 4 wins look way better than 1 lucky win. You are now looking at only needing to improve a couple of wins to get a bowl. 1 win looks like you are in the dark hole.

It also makes it much easier to keep the players you have focused and motivated. You had some fun weeks, guys got to experience that and like it. Guys work harder, you have fewer guys get discouraged and not make grades or quit. That better attitude can also be sensed by potential recruits. Optimism can be contagious and going from 1-11 to 4-8 can be built into optimism.

To go 4-8, we need to upset someone. Cal at home looks doable. USC at home will be anyone's guess depending on what that team does from here on out. Arizona remains a question mark as we don't know how good they are. RichRod's offense isn't built for rainy monsoons, which they played in yesterday.

I could see HCMM putting Sefo in and playing more OL guys that are young as well. We got to develop some depth for next year. Whether he wins 2 or 4 this year won't, in the end, make much difference. He cannot win 4 this year and be in a rebuilding position next year. Cannot.

I agree that 4-8 is a reasonable goal at this point. That would not be a horrible start to the MM era given how much his teams improved from season to season. Problem is that it is going to get really nasty around here with the next 5 games looking very tough. Hope they get somebody scheduled for Oct 19th.

Competitive in most is fine with me. No more of these games where we can't seem to do anything. Even against these teams that will hang a ton of points on us, I at least want to see our offense score some points. Problem is our oline is hopeless. I know Nembot is new to the position and game, so I not try bag on him, but he can't block anyone.

Really doubt we get a game scheduled for 19th. CU does not care. actually better that we don't schedule a game. Next 5 games are going to be ugly. I think MMac is the guy, it is going to take time. A lot of time due to the lack of caring from the school and it's leaders.

Empty seats, crappy facilities, losing records are all going to be taking its toll. Until the administration lets CU coaches bring in some real athletes we are doomed. The only selling point for the coaching staff is play time. "So kid, you want to come play at CU? Be a Buff? You can play right away! Get your @ss handed to you every saturday, but hey, you can play" only goes so far.

CU absolutely cares and Rick George himself said a game will be played otherwise there is a $4.5MM hit to the pocket book and George will not let that happen.

And you're off-base on the admissions. Yes we struggle with JUCO admissions due to credit transfers but the admissions department has let in kids that other schools wouldn't like Crawley. Facilities aren't crappy either. We need to update but the notion that they are the worst in the PAC 12 is false.

We are going to have a moment this season where things click. We're going to have a shocking win this season, plus a few other wins where we simply outplay teams. 4-5 wins (5-6 if we get a patsy scheduled) .

I think 4-8 is reasonable now that we have another FCS opponent on the schedule. 5-7 would be ****ing fantastic.

So I for some reason put myself through the pain of watching the OSU game again and I did notice some things that at least make me hopeful. We really should have only been down 10-3 at half at MOST ..... That stupid ass double coverage against with our 2 best defenders completion was killer. ALSO their first drive ended up scoring the FG because Bell literally had a ball hit his hands on 3rd and her dropped it. So literally with a swat on 3rd into double coverage and a pick that literally fell into his Bell's hands we are down at MOST 1 score. Second half blew up only cause of the ST bullsh*t. Our D was killing it first half for the most part (especially given the caliber of OSU and the chances I mentioned to stop drives in first) If we didn't mentally destroy ourselves and out moral with 2 stupid ass back to back plays this could have been a VERY different game. But because we were all of a sudden down 3 scores game plan out the window.... double teams (or minimum safety help) on P rich rest of the way changed the whole complexion. NOT saying we win but I really do think there were only a handful of plays that killed us here. If we make even half of those plays go our way we could have had a shot.

All this said cause after watching and hearing about Charleston I still think there is a slight chance we make a bowl. Beat Charleston and there is a chance we find 3 wins between Zona, Utah, cal and USC (depending on if they totally implode post Kiffin). Not a great chance but a chance.

Cal doesn't look winnable to me anymore. They chuck it all over the field and our lack of pass rush and questionable DB play makes me think this might be a loss.
