*Note, this is more for the people who couldn't watch because of the P12-DTV mess.
-Give credit to Arizona, they came out with energy and hit a lot of big shots throughout the game. They were flying down court after every shot to play D. On the flipside, we looked like we were ready to play a good team, but not a great team. And for the first half, Arizona played great.
-The second half we kicked it into "great team" gear and played blanket defense. Everyone was dialed in.
-While you can't point to one play that lost it, the play where we had them within 2pts under a minute and Johnson backed down Ski was really really bad. He had no help and one half of the entire court was missing any defenders other than Ski. Do we really want Ski defending Johnson in the paint, right underneath the hoop with no one around, with the game on the line? We will lose that every time.
-The last second over the back call on Dre was absurd. Again, it wasn't one call that lost it, but that was a very bad call. Tad lost it on the sidelines.
-Dinwiddie and Dre played amazing. They are the offensive and defensive heart of this team.
-Hat tip to Ski in the second half. He played well outside of the last defensive possession vs. Johnson, although you can't really fault him for that either (he needed help much earlier). The first half he def turned the ball over a ton, but a better game than last game. He's better hitting the ridiculous 3pt than the wide open shot.
-The game changed when Scott picked up his second foul in the first. The energy of the team went with him on the bench. SHT played as normal, but Mills was really high energy out there. He was battling his ass off against Tarczewski and helped contribute to a shot clock violation, as well as ripped down a few rebounds. I hope we see him spell Scott going forward this year.
-As for Scott, he played like a guy with 4.99 fouls all game. He just didn't get comfortable or assert himself. We know he can play, but I think he's fading down the stretch.
-Talton looked very impressive. He had a few quick drives to the hoop and played active defense. Boyle subbed him in for Dinwiddie late in the game when he got tired. Really like his game.
-Chen, I'm not sure what happened. His 2nd half was way better, but didn't play as much. He and Ski really turned the ball over too much in the 1st half to win a game like this.
