Renovations to the UW stadium are finished

I was there a couple years ago, and it is a great stadium. Loud! I can't imagine what the field will be like now that they moved the stands in:

Good facilities. Not Oregon quality, but very nice. CU should be doing something similar. UW will benefit from this quite a bit as it combines with Seattle selling itself. Same thing would work in Boulder.

For me, it's ugly in an NFL stadium way. The lake views aren't good enough and there's too much metal/concrete.

As a whole, it doesn't have as much character as a structure compared to Folsom. But it fits Seattle well, and as I said, it gets very, very loud.

Last night I watched several videos of the facility, from the tunnel to the locker rooms, equipment rooms, coaching offices, season ticket holder suites, etc. They were posted on Dawgman. Saw other vids and pics from other media sites after the media was granted access yesterday.

Wow! This is definitely a game-changer for UW. From what I've heard it is every bit on par as any facility in the country. Can't wait to see it this November for my birthday:slayer:

UW got really lucky that the deal was done at the low point in our country's recession. I've seen it reported that if they had to do the exact same remodel today it would be well over the $400 million range.

I love how coach Sark's office overlooks the entire field and Montlake Cut / Lake Washington. Not to mention that they have enabled gaming on the jumbotron for some off-season fun and mischief.

Definitely can't wait to see it. Got some great seats for when the 'Buffs visit Seattle in November:lol2:

The best thing about this renovation is that they removed the track, which of course means the seats aren't so far away from the field particularly in the end zone. I think KU and Pitt's old stadium had the same problem with a track around the field - although I'd argue that even with a track Pitt's old stadium was still a better atmosphere than them playing in an NFL stadium now.

Makes me envision what $200 million could do to Folsom Field.

It is true our nearly 100 year old stadium needs some TLC. I was there last weekend and walked around the stadium a bit. The concrete is in severe need of patching and refinishing everywhere, from the stands to the colorado ramp. The bleachers need to probably be replaced. (seats everywhere but the student section would be great) Everything needs a new coat of paint. The steel railings and signs are rusted out and need to be replaced. The concessions area on the west side along with the restrooms need some serious updating.

With our campus architecture, the renovation to the west side boxes are going to look gorgeous. It will enable it to look and feel modern and fresh without losing its character. I wish the west side had more of the stone work on the field side and not the aluminum siding. Also if they can close in the north end zone... I can't imagine the epicness of Ralphie blasting out of a tunnel with the team behind her. It would take our already #1 gameday tradition and take it to another level. I think Rick George can pull it off.

As an aside, as much as it would suck for a season I wouldn't mind some bigger renovations done to the stadium. From a safety standpoint, the walls need to be pulled away from the field by about 5 yards on either side. There is simply no room down there. Far too many times I have seen players run into the walls or almost run straight into the benches that are at knee height. I would hate to see a player injured simply because our playing surface is too small.

I was at the game it is amazing. The place is loud as hell and they will not lose a game in this building all year. Ill try to post some pictures. Our Buffs are in trouble on Nov. 9th but ill be there in black and gold.

Did they cancel the Oregon game?
