According to Jud Zulgad at the Minnesota Star Tribune, Minnesota Vikings running backs coach and former Colorado alum Eric Bieniemy has accepted the offensive coordinator job for the Colorado Buffaloes. Bieniemy was also being considered for the head coaching position but that is most likely going to Jon Embree, another former Colorado Buffalo.
Zulgad reports that Bieniemy will finish out the rest of the season with the Minnesota Vikings. Hopefully, Bieniemy can get some time on the road to start recruiting as signing day is only a couple months away. This is a big get for Jon Embree, Mike Bohn and the University of Colorado football program. Bieniemy is a great recruiter, something is desperately needed for the move to the Pac-10.
Jon Embree is supposedly meeting with athletic director Mike Bohn in New York and is expected to be named head coach on Monday. Embree is also rumored to have a great staff coming to Boulder with him, none more important that Eric Bieniemy. Many former Colorado Buffaloes will be celebrating today's news as they got both of their "Colorado Men."
Bieniemy spent five years as running backs coach for the Minnesota Vikings and this past year was named assistant head coach. He was one of the best players ever to wear a Colorado Buffalo uniform. He is the school's all-time leader in rushing yards (3,940), all-purpose yards (4,351), touchdowns (42), and scoring (254 points). He finished 3rd for the Heisman in 1990. In 1991, he led the Buffs to a National Championship. Bieniemy earned unanimous All-America honors and Offensive Player of the Year award in '90.

More from the Star Tribune:
Vikings running backs coach Eric Bieniemy has accepted the job as offensive coordinator at Colorado.
He will serve as the coordinator for his good friend Jon Embree, who is expected to finalize an agreement to become the school's new football coach this weekend. Embree is currently on the coaching staff of the Washington Redskins.
Bieniemy will finish out the season with the Vikings. Bieniemy also holds the title of assistant head coach/offense with the Vikings. That title was given to him last summer when Southern Cal's new coach Lane Kiffin tried to hire him as offensive coordinator.
One of his key roles with the Vikings is working with the offense on blitz protections and so his job goes well beyond that of coaching running backs.
