The best to ever do it.
The best there was for CFB....farewell and Whoa Nellie!
Will always be who I think of as the voice for the biggest college games on the biggest stage. Nobody better
How many years did he do the Rose Bowl?
To this day, every time that broadcast comes on, I expect to hear his voice.
Heaven is stocking up on golden voices. Hopefully Kieth and Dick are getting in a round of golf together.
Which is weird because Keith Jackson was from Washington. He mentioned it in an interview, but there is something poetic in a southern drawl delivering a sports call. Y’all.

Pretty sure that he went to college there but that he was from Georgia or Alabama. (if I'm remembering correctly one of the tv segments I caught this week)Which is weird because Keith Jackson was from Washington.
Or when he was sitting next to Bob Griese in the booth for the Rose Bowl and calling the game and Brian Griese was playing QB for Michigan. Brian has a scramble where he picks up some yards and KJ calls it...A lot of people talking about the “Whoa Nellie” line but there were many great Kieth Jackson lines that were kinda the way he talked. One of my favorites was when at the beginning of the broadcast he would say, “Helllloh egin ehverybuddy this is Keith Jacksennnn, along with my partner.........”
Or when some big team would run on the field and he would say “Here come the Buffalos and there’s Alotofem”
Or when some big guy gets tackled near the sidelines, after carrying some tacklers with him he would say “And the big fellow is Wrrrangled outa bounds at the 42 yard line...
Or if say Florida was coming back on, for example Georgia, he would say something like “Watch out Dawgs dem Gators be ssssnapping at your appendagessss.”
Or if say Nebraska was playing Michigan....“Coach Tommy Osborne versus the indelible Bo Schembecklerrrrrr, and its gonna be a goodun.”
There will never be another, but I must say that the next best guy up is Gus Johnson. That guy has a great voice and is colorful enough in his descriptions that he might someday be mentioned in the same vein.
Anyway Godspeed Keith Jackson. You will be missed.
