All kinds of whispers regarding a new scandal hitting Oregon relating to academics and that Chip Kelly may need to get out of Dodge. Oregon fans/boards seem to be flipping their ****.

Anyone hear anything or have a link to anything resembling a credible report?

What ever became of the paying for "recruiting services" investigation ?

What are you talking about? I am normally the first one to hear about odd rumors and this is a first for me. Which board is the one thats talking about it since eDuck free and paid subscription boards are quiet on any odd rumor.

Still an investigation. Also, there's the car loaner to a player by a faculty member. I don't think that was settled and that one's so documented that it has to be a minor infraction on its own (something bigger if it's part of a bunch of other stuff going on).

This academic thing is separate, though, and has some Oregon fans in a panic.

Saw it on the Buffs Rivals board after someone emailed me that he'd heard something too and I should take a look at the thread. He wanted to know if I'd heard anything and I hadn't.

The car loaner you are referring too was involving Cliff Harris and that has already been cleared by the NCAA so that is old news. I just trolled all the other Oregon boards I don't use and didn't see anything.

Let's get Robo-Buff up to Eugene to investigate.

you know the NCAA would love to beat down Oregon. Show everyone that they are in charge. I see a loss of two total scholarships spread out over 15 years.

Prove to the world they are on top of things.

Ha! I knew it. Nike is importing term papers from 12 year old kids in Malaysian sweatshops. Hammer the ****ers. This is bigger than the NCAA, bigger than even football. Those poor kids losing their youth and vision, and not their virginity, staring at outdated CRTs 19 hours a day and twice on Sunday. The horror. End the travesty now before Jane gets involved and finds one that looks like a little bug eyed seal.

That's because you spend all your time on AB instead of on the Ducks' boards where should be. :smile2:

Apparently Kenjon Barner has been rolling around campus in a orange Camero with Black racing stripes and his number 24 engraved in the tail lights. Real discrete.

Isn't denial one of the first stages of grief? Or is it a river in Africa? I forget.

Denial? Not really since I normally skip that stage and go straight to the anger.

I've warned you repeatedly to get off this sinking ship and become a Buff. If you want any street cred, you do it now. You won't be accepted in a couple years when CU is back to winning and Oregon goes down in flames - that would be bandwagoning.

I don't bandwagon so I guess I am set there lol

I have no insight into the ducks but I'm not hearing anything. Haven't listened to local radio in a few days.

Mike Bellotti is getting 500K from the PERS (state run retirement system) and the newspapers are making a bit stink about it but that's about it.

Ringo reported that Barnett is making $600,000 a year off CO's PERA. Not sure how that works.

Holy cow. I think I know how this works. Barnett was a teacher down in the Springs for a while, IIRC. Probably about 10-15 years. He did some coaching at Air Academy, Ft. Lewis, then CU for a while, then Northwestern, then back to CU. All that time in Colorado was spent as a public employee. The way PERA works is that you get a portion of your HIGHEST salary for your pension. The longer you spent in the system, the larger percentage of your highest salary you receive. GB's highest salary was probably around $1.5MM/Yr. So PERA is contractually responsible to pay him a certain percentage of that figure.

Great. Just freaking great.
