Running Back Rotation/Other Offensive Personnel...

It appears Patrick Carr is getting more chances and he is seeing the field better. Donovan Lee is a very good athlete and can line up all over the field. I believe Lindsay has pretty much been relegated behind them after the last couple weeks. It appears Powell is used only in personnel packages and no longer much of a factor. I am not surprised by this at all. He is probably the 5th best back if Adkins II was healthy.

I am a little skeptical of not playing Lindsay but a handful of carries. He appears to be the heart of the team. When a team leader sits the bench, it is not a good thing for the leader of a team. You want your leaders to be your best players getting the most reps. Thus, why I believe we need a QB type that can do that and take over a team and get that feeling of "We are going to win this damn game!" mentality into his team. I am not going to argue that point on Sefo. Carr may be a better overall back then Lindsay in my opinion. He just needed time to adjust to the college level. I will say I feel Lee should move back to slot and only be used as a Cobb type for Green Bay when they want to have the defense adjust to him back there. I feel like Jay MacIntyre is not there yet but they have given many of Lee's reps to him. He's a solid athlete, has made a couple nice catches, but this offense has more dynamic playmaking ability when Lee is in the slot and Lindsay or Carr are on the field. Just something I have felt since we had to move Lee over for the Nichols State game. Understood when Carr was out but hasn't made sense since Carr got healthy.

I am still curious why we don't see the TE used more in the Ty Gucci role. Irwin and Keeney have shown they can eat up the middle and I feel like that aspect of the game left. DD Goodson and Ty Gucci got a lot of those big seem plays that I was hoping the TEs, Lee and Bryce Bobo would get.

Offensive Line has had issues but I feel like they played solid the last two weeks. I believe they are using this part of the year to solidify the OL the last few weeks and then roll into next year since only Nembot will be leaving. Hoping Irwin returns healthy. Should make for a very solid OL.

Open up the playbook against Stanford and throw stuff at them we haven't shown or shown much of. Stanford will kick our ass if we try to beat them at the point of attack. The lines for both teams are massive and quick.

Great point. Lindsay and Lee are similar in that they are athletic enough to play RB and slot. The options available to Lindgren with these two playing both positions should be pretty exciting. Spruce, Fields, and Ross need their reps but it falls off to nothing after them unless they use your idea on Lindsay and Lee.

Lee is a big play threat, Carr may eventually be the best all around guy who has the combination of explosiveness and ability to break tackles.

Right now Lindsay is our best bet to consistently carry the rock and keep us on schedule. He is most likely to turn each carry into a gain that sets up the next play for success. He is also the kind of leader, both in action and words this team needs on the field.

Agree about the TE. Give the defense something more to be worried about. Also TE patterns tend to open early in the play, give Sefo an option he can use before the pass rush is on him. Force the safeties to respect the middle of the field and Spruce and Fields end up with more room to work outside.

Using Lee as a combo guy, sometimes a wing, sometimes a RB, sometimes a slot, even outside sometimes again forces defenses to simplify if he is in the game. Give up a couple TDs because he wasn't covered and teams will be more hesitant to blitz or run more complex coverages.

How are Lee &Carr's blocking? Lindsey has really impressed me in pass protection. Can Lee and Carr keep Sefo off his back?

Sefo has left the pocket rather than step up countless times this year. When he takes off to his right, the play is basically dead. This is killing a lot of plays prematuraly. When he has taken off up the field, Irwin has almost always been freeing himself over the middle and could be hit in stride for a big gain. That is open all day, if Sefo is staying in the middle of the field and not sprinting back to his right.

In one of the games I was watching last weekend, I saw a great play design that would fit perfectly with the Sefo delayed runs he has been doing up the middle. It's similar to the old "jump pass" that Tebow made famous:

The QB catches the snap, and does his normal delay before starting to head forward looking for his running hole. But the twist is that the RB has released straight ahead. The LB has a choice now (the option guy), cover the RB or stop that QB run up the middle. In the game I saw, the QB had run that keeper play a few times and the LB conditioned to fill the hole and the QB sent a short pass over his head to a speeding RB who was gone right up the gut.

Last one is perfect for lindsay. He has shown he can catch and secure the ball inb traffic and run in that kind of space.

Do it a couple times and you effectively freeze the ILB and safety for the game.

I believe you are right and believe that is why Powell gets a fair amount of snaps. Lee isn't going tone much of a blocker. Carr could but I haven't noticed him on pass plays much.

I thought it was already decided that we aren't allowed to throw to the TE more than once a game. Why are we still debating this?
