I've exhausted my internet sluething and have some questions I know a bunch of you have at your fingertips.

What is the payout for each team?
What is CSU's current AD budget and how far upside down is it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't think there is any "pay out" like there would be from a bowl game. In fact I think the reason Bohn insisted on the one game in Boulder was it was worth more money as the home team to play the game at home. I am sure there is a fee for using the stadium, forfeit any parking, and some split with the city where concessions are concerned

Here's an article about the payout for this year. The numbers are quite fuzzy in this article. It seems to indicate that - at its heyday - CSU made about $1,000,000 from the Rocky Mountain Showdown; while CU made $1,000,000 MORE than what it generally made for a sold out home game. In other words, if CU made $2.5 million for a home sellout - then it made $3.5 million for the RMS.

However - the article indicates CSU only made about $275,000 the past few years, due to low ticket sales.

Here's an article about CSU's athletic department budget. According to this, CSU's athletic department budget in 2012 was $28 million.

Same article mentions a $14.5 million subsidy from the school each year. He mentions weaning the department off the subsidy but I don't see any way that they increase revenues in any substantial and sustainable way.

The figures are not completely current but this link has some interesting information http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/spor...ollege-athletics-finances-database/54955804/1

If you sort the data by expenses you will see that very few schools who compete in FBS level football have smaller budgets or non-subsidy revenues than CSU. They are very much a little fish in the world of athletic finances. In that context a payout of $275,000 for a game is very important.

I don't think it was ever close to $1,000,000 for the RMS but I do remember in the times when it was close to selling out and on major network TV the sheep getting in the $500,000-600,000 range with CU over $1,000,000
