.... and he didn´t even have to pay a penny of it.

Jerry Sandusky has been arraigned on 40 counts of sex crimes related to boys and was released on $100,000 unsecured bail -- meaning he won't have to pay unless he doesn't show up for court.

What kind of judge sets a $100k bail for a guy who is facing charges for 40 counts of sex crimes? The guys who are facing charges for perjury are out on $75k bail.

And if that doesn´t make you sick enough, all 6 of his children are adopted and his house is right next door to an elementary school.

must figure to let him stretch his legs a little... I read he is facing up to 460 years in prison.

That SOB better find a rock quick, and hide under it. Pennsylvania is a f6cked up place. They reported today that Sandusky's charity organization was running a pimp operation that supplied high priced donors with young boys. The DA who was the first to investigate the allegations against Sandusky has been missing for over 5 years. Joe Pa is a coward, WTF was he doing besides trying to protect himself?

Bail is intended to ensure someone comes back to court and commits no further crimes while on release. If both those things happen, then this is the right bail decision. Call me old-fashioned, but I still like to see a guilty plea or verdict before the government locks someone up for the rest of his life.

This is true, but if someone knocked him off before then, I wouldn't be all that upset.

My wife was shocked to hear Sandusky is out on bail. She said that a felony sex crime against a child is a non-bondable offense in Arizona.

Didn't figure this deserved its own thread (or even if it belongs in the Buff football forum) ... but here it is:

According to plaintiff's lawyer ... JoPa may be able to take advantage of a legal loophole.

Joe Paterno may face civil lawsuits as a result of the Penn State sexual abuse scandal, and if that happens, one attorney said Paterno's legal representatives and other defendants could try to use what the attorney considers a flaw in Pennsylvania state law that limits the rights of victims.

Lester Munson says lawsuits against Penn State and Joe Paterno will follow a pattern established in cases against the Roman Catholic Church and the Boy Scouts. Story

Plaintiffs currently over the age of 20 can pursue lawsuits only in cases of sexual abuse that involved "forcible compulsion." That definition includes rape, but may not involve lesser forms of physical contact.
Shanin Specter, a litigator in Philadelphia who has been contacted by the family of one of the alleged victims, said the loophole could eliminate some of the victims as viable plaintiffs. However, according to Specter, Paterno's legal team would have to argue that the boys had the choice of being touched inappropriately by former Nittany Lions assistant Jerry Sandusky.
"But that's not going to stop me from filing suit," Specter said, noting the flaw would relate to all potential defendants in the case.

This may be a "pre-emptive strike" by the plaintiff's attorney to force JoPa's legal team to respond to it.

In any case I hope JoPa would eschew such a defense ... if he has any dignity or self-respect left (not to mention concern for the victims).
