Our average scoring margin is +3.8, which is #95 in the country.

12-1 in games decided by single digits.

8 of our 9 losses have been by double-digits.

Despite all the wins accumulated over the past four seasons we're only about #90 nationally during this period in scoring margin. Wins are wins, this isn't a complaint, just found it interesting.

And the 5 point loss to Okie Lite didn't seem that close. We won basically all the close games we played -- really glad we beat Wazzu/Utah in OT, I can only imagine if those results were flipped at this point.
 
I would guess this is just because of the Tad Boyle style of play and focus on defense. Loving the new "intramural member" pictures btw. :rofl:

Unfortunately, margin of victory drives the BPI rank, which determines how ESPN talks about the Buffs.

With 350+ D1 teams to evaluate, using statistical formulas is even more prevalent in college basketball especially given how many games are played simultaneously.

No, but ESPN is pushing forcefully with the agenda of changing that. CU was completely disrespected by ESPN tonight, from failing to mention our quality wins (leaving out our win over ASU, saying Oregon State was one of our best wins) to calling @ Utah a bad loss (Utah has 20 wins and only 2/20 teams have won @ Utah all year) to Lunardi's mysterious dropping of CU 7 or 8 spots in just 48 hours (and two slow nights of basketball). It was creating a perception that we were far worse than we are and far more in jeopardy of not being selected than we actually were. And while the committee isn't directly basing their selection off ESPN, the guys on the committee watch ESPN and are under its influence just like the rest of us. I really don't want to even think about what ESPN would be saying had we lost tonight (even though our resume would still have been superior to any bubble team). It came across as CU being selected as a victim for negative coverage in order for ESPN to show how great their ****ty, highly flawed BPI is. Glad it backfired in their faces.
 
Even as CU was putting a wrap on it...that douchebag play by play announcer was ragging on CU....glad to see Walton put him in his place

Walton made a comment jokingly last night basically saying "Does the committee just go by what Lunardi says?" I thought it was funny but like you said, the committee undoubtedly hears him on ESPN and whether or not they actually agree with or listen to what he's saying, it gets in their head at least on a subconscious level.

I am gonna give Walton credit last night...he was adamant that we were in the tournament and not on the bubble.

He was adamant about the block/charge call that fouled out Powell

He is old school Pac 8/10 so he is gonna be more friendly towards the original schools...especially UCLA/Stanford/Arizona.

ESPN always lists the "worst loss" with the resume thing.

I like Walton, but how can anyone seriously think 8 teams are getting in including Utah?
 
Calling @ Utah our worst loss is compliment, IMO.

Edit: reflecting on turning a corner in my fandom -- I think this is the second time I've referred to CU using first person possessive adjectives.

Sapphire and quality beer: A step up from ACC. There's two football crowds out East:
1. Tequila and cheap beer (e.g. Virginia Tech, Clemson, NC State)
2. Wine coolers and wheat beers (e.g. UVA, UNC ...er, oops, I mean North Carolina)

Neither acceptable at CU (I expected no less stepping up to an AAU school in the Pac). Got it.

nothing wrong with a little tequila at a tailgate, but it's a bit strange as a staple.

You are gonna like sackygate. wait till he brings out the jambalaya burritos!
