SDSU on 10/19?

I think this is (a) the best possible scenario for us and (b) the most likely scenario. I like it when those two things happen together.

(from an earlier post in the makeup game thread)

At today's post-practice interview, HCMM stated that although the extra week off was nice, CU had 10 straight games coming up so they would have to be managing practices in the future. (paraphrase all but the 10 straight games).

Sounds like a solution has been found and that it involves the Oct. 19 date. Per a recent SDSU beat reporter's column, neither CU nor SDSU are commenting on that possibility. Which means a deal is probably being discussed (finalized?).

(thanks adam at rivals for the video, although I wish he had asked the followup question )

Is SDSU a DII (or whatever it's called) team? Isn't only one allowed for bowl eligibility? I realize I'm stretching here, but getting to 6 wins is still within the realm of possibility.

San Diego St is in the Mountain West.

San Diego State is in the Mountain West Conference, same as Fresno State.

They are an FBS program. The limit is on only counting 1 win against an FCS opponent toward bowl eligibility.

San Diego St has been fairly good the past few seasons, going to bowl games. They're off to a really rocky start this year.

I'd take that. SDSU has not maintained since Hoke left and since we are in some cases looking at the same recruits I'd like the potential to win a head-to-head on the field. Just as I think they'd jump at this because it offers them a potential underdog opponent and can been seen as the best chance to get another W toward bowl eligibility. I would love to see CU come out on top against a California school and here's our opportunity.

No. They are a MWC team just like the Rams.

A couple factors on why SDSU might be interested:

1) Budget shortfall for this year. They had expected to be in the Big East this season and budgeted for that versus what they're getting in the MWC.

2) Jashon Sykes is now working for their AD with responsibility for scheduling, giving us a familiar and CU-friendly negotiating partner there.

they won't be a lay-down for the Buffs, but they are definitely beatable.

hoke got them started on a turn-around before heading to michigan, but they are having trouble sustaining it.

it would be a great replacement game for us. assuming we could get that W, we'd just.need.3.more.

i am not going to stop hoping!

IF this happens I suppose those with a Fresno ticket will get in and use their assigned seats.
CU should then market this game with a 'cheaper' ticket where 1/2 money made goes to CU and the other to Boulder County flood relief efforts. Maybe this would get close to a full house ??
