Sherrard Harrington Retires (medical)

Being injured is a far cry from just up and quitting. Truly unfortunate that he couldn't ever shake that injury bug, but I presume he'll be medically retired and will hopefully finish out his degree. Also hope that Big Mac and company find a way to keep him involved with the program somehow.

I just hope he gets put on medical hardship and is able to get his degree.

Gotta love the job he did in helping recruit kids to the 2012 class. Hoping he stays on track and does great things.

Best of luck to a great Buff! Very sorry to hear it.

On a separate note, Jesus, Slider.

Agree with the sentiments that he is able to stay around and complete his degree. He is also a classy kid and I would hope there is some way he can stay affiliated with the football program. I think he could be a good influence on some of the younger kids coming in.

I also hope that the injuries which are ending his career can be managed in a way to allow him to live a full and reasonably pain free life outside of football.

What injuries did he sustain?

GL to the young man.

His hip issue was definitely ongoing, but I want to say he had surgery for a shoulder maybe? Hopefully somebody else remembers, but that hip thing seemed to linger way too long. Poor kid, hopefully it isn't debilitating.

That's awful. Bad hips cause so many problems, just ask DBT, and the guy is 20ish.

The guy was a stud coming out of HS. I was eagerly awaiting him on the field. Tough loss.

Too bad for him, I was always a huge fan. The first mayor I think is a good description. Too bad he couldn't ever get on the field

according to the DP, he's not 'retiring', he's taking a medical redshirt

BOULDER — Sophomore defensive back Sherrard Harrington is taking a medical redshirt. Out of Washington’s Howard D. Woodson High, Harrington suffered hip and knee injuries during his redshirt freshman season in 2011 and he didn’t record a statistic last year

The Denver Post has really good reporters.
