Shipping Containers Re-purposed as Tailgate Setups

A new company, apparently out of Texas, is making these. The upper deck feature would be really cool I think. I'm not sure how you'd deliver these to your average tailgate spot though, on a trailer I suppose.

Interesting question about delivery.

It wouldn't surprise me if a number of programs who take their fans (and their dollars) seriously enough wouldn't set up a permanent tailgating area in which fans could rent a space for the whole season and leave the unit there locked up and ready to go.

Fabricate some steps that flip down over the side when at your tailgate spot and there you go.
 
Lubbock is not ugly enough, adding these hideous metal boxes should give Texas Tech a leg up on Waco.
 
Cool. I don't know how they'd pull something like that off at CU, though. They'd have to get creative to find a few good spots where those things could sit for four months. Parking is a premium on campus, so I'm skeptical about how they'd work it. I love the concept, though.
 
Now that I think about it, they could set aside one side of Franklin Field to put those things. I bet they could get 20 or so lined up along the East side of Franklin. Put in an artificial surface so cars can still drive on it in bad weather and pour a 10' wide concrete slab along the East edge of the field. Allow people to park their car in front of their rig. The cost goes way up, but that's OK. I'd be willing to be there would be at least 20 folks willing to pony up an extra couple grand per year for the priviledge of having their own, dedicated tailgate rig.

The Buff Club could partner with the outfit that makes these things to take care of all the arrangements. Everything from design to transport. Rent out the slabs on an annual basis. This would work here. Which means, of course, that it will never happen. :bang:

after working out delivery and storage logistics, it seems simpler to just go RV. I'm all about upping the tailgate level though.
 
Interesting that the website only mentions leasing these setups. Looks like they'll have to partner with the schools similar to what sacky suggested.

Texas Tech campus 1,839 acres
CU Boulder campus 786 acres

Tech campus has plenty of land to spare for unit storage. Flatbeds already show up on campus on gameday with rock bands on top.

I just don't see CU in a position to compete with Tortilla Tech when it comes to full-on red neck tailgating.

Shouldn't be a problem to get your homeowners association to approve it sitting in front of your house in the off season, either.

The kind of folks who would have rigs like that wouldn't be parking them in front of their houses. They'd drop it off at an RV storage lot somewhere in the offseason.
 
On second thought a big metal box in 100 degree weather might not be the most comfortable hang out spot.
