Sorry Tad Boyle but you lost this game. Bama's strength wasn't rocket surgery - they play pressure defense and crap themselves on offense. Oh and they rebound, so take high percentage shots.

So what do we do with a 1 point lead and the game on the line? Call a time out and play to defend their outside shot. (They haven't shown the ability to hit a contested outside shot all night.). We give up an uncontested layup by a GUARD, with a one fake on Higgins.

REALLY?

Then with an inbound play, 9.3 to go at halfcourt, Burks beats his meat for 6 seconds and jacks up a three.

REALLY?

With four other guys standing around on the perimeter, expecting Burks to jack up a 3 and cave for the rebound. Against a really good rebounding team.

REALLY?

With less than a second to go.

Boyle fecked up this game. Burks thinks Carmelo Anthony's .500 habits were awesome.

It's only one season, but something needs to change. I know that Boyle has never had a player of this caliber. I get that, but so do ALL OTHER COACHES. Get the hint, Todd.

your right... we better fire boyle and bring back Bzdelik... SHUT THE **** UP

I think Burks kind of blew the last play. He was dribbling between his legs when he started driving and drove right into a double team where he was forced to jack up a 3. I don't think Boyle or any coach would draw that up if you are down by 1.

I'm not sure that play went on like Tad wanted it to. If that was what coach Boyle called for the last play, then he deserves the criticism.

You're happy with how this one ended and how it was coached? I've met and like Boyle, but he coached poorly tonight.

PS I've met most of the coaches since the late 70's and recognized their weaknesses. Bzdelik's weaknesses amounted to arrogance, in one form or another. Patton's was strategy. Harrington's were recruiting and balls. ETC.

So far Boyle's seems to be allowing Burks to pretend he's Carmelo Anthony, who sucks donkey balls and lost too much given his offensive talent.

Not standing up to great players. GET IT?

He's the coach. He needs to draw up a ****ing play that gets us to the final game. Please pardon me if I offend your senses over that excess competitiveness. Pussy.

I don't. JB ran an offense that didn't suit CU and we won by scoring 80 ppg, not 60.
Jeff ran an offense that suited the talent he had at the time. He did start to open it up last season. I remember this coming up with the recruitment of Relaphorde.

People forget quickly how much Jeff got things turned around here in Boulder. Jeff knew he was leaving a good team when he left for the ACC.

I understand your point however I do not think the coach planned for that to happen. Burks stood their and dribbled the ball for 6 seconds before moving. He got caught up in a cross over on his hip and had to regain a handle on the ball. At that point he did what a leader on any team does, realize a mistake and he took it into his own hands to fix it. His shot went long and we lost. Burks has a lot to learn, so does Boyle for that matter but I do not think this is the coaches fault as much as the player trying to be too fancy. He needs another year before the league and I think his inability to close the game tonight proved that.

You've been a poster here for a while, and I don't think you've ever been happy with anything CU does. But I guess that's how some people are. They always see the negative in any situation. If we would've won the tournament, you'd be blasting the team in some way. Oh well.

I'm happy with the direction this team is heading in. Good stuff is heading our way. GO BUFFS!

@ the bold: WATCH IT! And Boyle did bench Burks a few times this year for playing like ****. You're way off base here.

Didn't like the last play either. No screens, no cut to the hoop, nobody except Burks really moved on that.

Kinda. He also blew up a team in his first year that had a lot of talent, albeit dysfunctional. Not sure about you, but I felt I followed a bad team for two full seasons that didn't need to be so bad. Oh and I PAID MONEY for that team. Jeff made money.

I know sound like a spoiled fan, but he couldn't turn a team with Xavier Silas, Jeremy Williams, Sean Kowell and Kal Bay into a .500 team, with Cory Higgins and Alec Burks in the TWO years to come?

Think about it.

Our season just ended an hour ago. Sorry for wanting to be a winner. Not.

Im sure im not only one who knew the last possesion would end in a long contested jump shot. Lets not foregt this team was what...0/15 this year on possesions to end the first half? And those possesions always consisted of running down the clock and then taking a bad shot.

I had season tickets for the last two years of the Patton era. It was pretty bad. I remember Silas fighting with Roby during the game against OSU. At least I think it was the OSU game. Kal Bay was really nothing to brag about. I'm not sure about Kowal though. I never got the chance to see him play. How did he do at NIU? JWilliams was a good player though. Same with Silas. I just don't think Patton knew how to get the most out of his players. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I don't hold any bad feelings when Jeff cut the old Paton kids though. I think most coaches would've done the same if they were in that situation. jmho.

Dear Bisonic and JRK1212 - I don't doubt that you both know a little about basketball, but I doubt less that you are both assholes for coming on this board to try and flaunt that knowledge within hours of a tough defeat. If you think this makes you good fans, then maybe you should become fans of another team. I don't want you at my side.

Losing Williams hurt. Really could have used him the past 2 seasons. Same with Veal. Never understood why Bzz let Kowal go. Had a decent mid-range jumper, and was bigger than Dufault. If Silas would have agreed to play defense he would have thrived under Boyle imo.

I was pretty upset with how we gave away the game. I don't think I've ever yelled that much at Relaphorde. Geez that kid kills me.

It sucks not winning the tourney, but the positives of this season greatly outweigh the negatives. CU represented well.

lol bisonic is all butt hurt on life again. dude it is just a game and the kids played hard, bit mote than the end sucked. we had ateut yen good minutes in the second half where we pushed the pace. the test of the game played right into bamas hands. go have a beer, kiss your Obama poster, and relax

I wouldn't exactly call that a contested jump shot. Burks got a relatively good look. One that Kemba Walker has hit, one that MJ has hit, one that Kobe has hit, etc. He simply missed it. Hindsight is 20/20. If Knutson misses the shot, the question is why our best player wasn't taking the shot. If Burks tries to get to the rim and gets a charge called on him, it's why didn't he pull up and shoot the jump shot.

At the end of the day, our best player got a good look to win the game and missed. I have seen countless times where a team doesn't even get an attempt because they turn the ball over instead, or they get a jump shot that air balls because they were completely smothered by the defense. Both of which Boyle would get blamed for.
