SJSU hires San Diego´s Ron Carragher

OC/QB-Lindgren
OL-Bernardi
DL-Jeffcoat
DC/LB-Baer
DB- Clark

That leaves:
RB:
WR:
TE/ST:
1 other random position coach

I thought that was the consensus? Maybe he'll stay on because SJSU's offense was his and one other coaches' work
He'd stay, maybe, if he is offered a coordinator position. Otherwise, I'd think he'd take a significant pay raise to come here.

Time to get the ball rolling. Too bad most of the players will be gone by the time they meet their position coaches

recruiting and recruiting texas, primarily. Also I think kennedy is/was a good position coach historically. McGee can be the 'random coach' is the original post - ends and/or outside lb as current - it makes much more sense in this configuration with the dc also coaching LBs, because I thought it was stupid of embree to have a first time coordinator also coach the entire backfield, and be over-staffed up front. with this setup mcgee can be more of an assistant for the oLB/LBs.

McGhee as DE / OLB coach (sort of assisting both the DL and LB coach) along with Recruiting Coordinator.
Kennedy - seems strong.
I'd take Brookhart too while we are at it.

We'd be paying a lot of money for an SJSU/Embree staff. Do not want

I definitely would pass on Brookhart. Did nothing recruiting wise (wasn't he assigned Colorado?) and our special teams pretty much sucked. TEs...meh

Damn. Wish they had hired Baer. I am highly optimistic about MacIntyre, but Baer scares the **** out of me.

San Jose defense was pretty decent. Only gave up 21 points a game on average, and if you take out La Tech, it was below 20 a game.

(they gave up 43 to La Tech, which was the 3rd lowest La Tech scored all year. 41 against USU in a loss, and 28 against N. Mex St in a win. Will be interesting to see what Dykes can do at Cal)

Kennedy is not necessarily an "Embree guy". He grew up in Boulder but went to UNC. I think he would be a solid addition to the staff if they decide to keep him.

Love all of the electronic hand wringing over who will be brought on at CU. Who cares? Some assistants flourish under under one coach, and suck under another. Just win!

What does the recruiting coordinator do? It is more of an administrative/analytical position - or is it more of a people management/selling role?

If it administrative and analytical, then I think McGhee would be awful at it.

Best way to think of it is the Director of Scouting for a pro team plus a Draft War Room / Draft Board that is year-round and covers multiple drafts.

I really think you need 2 positions:

1. Director of Recruiting. This wouldn't be a coach. This would be an AD staffer dedicated to football who manages things from an administrative end while having a team of staffers for this stuff. Mailings, compliance, admissions, official visit planning, tickets for in-state coaches/players, etc.

2. Recruiting Coordinator. This would be the coach who stacks the board and coordinates efforts among the coaches regarding offers to be made, schools and camps to be visited by whom, etc.

These two positions would obviously have to work very closely together.

Then I don't think McGhee would be great at either position. He strikes me as a person who you want on the road interacting with kids and coaches. I'd want an analyst and someone with top organizational skills in those positions.
