Ski's brutal decision

Wow. Things are so f'ing bad right now. I wish I hadn't bought the tix to tomorrow's game now.

Not a fan of the decision at all. But Ski has earned enough goodwill with me for me to let it slide.

More disappointed than angry to steal a phrase from my parents.

No issue with the decision. These are pretty meaningless games. What we can get from these games is some chemistry and playing time for the people who will be here next year. Ski being out there actually hinders that.

Completely agree.

Wish Ski the best. Also wish that he had made a statement that he was exiting for injury reasons or that he is excited to see this team begin to focus on next season. Clearly, this team is a mess right now. Lets hope Tad has what it takes to right the ship in the locker room first and then get this program competitive again, the rest of the P12 is past respecting CU BBall again !!

My only problem with the decision is I can't watch him play in the keg again.

I also believe it's for the best but it's an odd way to exit the scene. Tad clearly didn't come out with a rousing endorsement. If it was handled differently, I'd have increased my respect for Ski. Instead, it's a WTF moment that opens up more questions.

Ski could have easily released a bull**** statement that was much more media savvy.

It's very Ski to go out like this, though, by telling Tad that he doesn't feel like playing so he's not gonna play and people can think what they want.

Well, here you go. I'm sure holic won't believe these quotes, but...

This Season.

From the opening of the article:

Colorado senior Askia Booker has decided to skip the College Basketball Invitational, apparently deeming it not worthy of his time, and he has the support of his coach and many teammates, who will play without him.

Nothing pejorative about that or anything, is there? Pretty presumptuous of the writer to assume the reason for Ski's decision without more information ... but then we are talking about ESPN.

I fully support Ski's decision, and agree with others that this is the way to get ready for next season.

Agree or disagree, Ski's position appears to be a reasonable, empathetic, and very ski-like approach to the situation.

It's amazing what quotes you can come up with after this story blows up to a national level. He had his choice to say this right off the bat, and his own coach was happy to provide us with his direct quotes. He mishandled the whole thing, and is now able to save face. Nobody wants the bad pub, not CU no Ski, so this is the damage control. No idea what the term "ski-like" means?

Other then conjecture, got any evidence? If not, enjoy the opinion of hating one of CU's all time greats. Glad I'm not you.

Give it a rest. The narrative made sense the entire time.

All true.

CTB didn't "help" Booker with his original quote. He is a very smart man and said the things he said for a reason.

Booker had no choice but to try and clear things up. Whether it's accurate or not, it's too late. Obviously this story has blown up for all the wrong reasons.

The only thing that will clear this up for Booker now is CTB making some sort of defending statement on his behalf.

That's why it's ski-like... Because there were several good reasons to opt out of the CBI and make himself look like a good guy. Tad even said he suggested this would make him look bad and Askia didn't care. Askia certainly didn't give Tad these reasons, even though Tad wanted to hear that.

And the reason I don't believe Askia is being genuine NOW is because he left the team. He didn't offer to practice, attend practice, help coach, cheer them on - nothing. He said he was done, not going to play. Acted insulted by the invite. Took his ball and went home.

Now you believe that he was doing this for the team?

Tad was pretty much over the edge on this one guys. It's been a long tenure of Ski-dership.
