Someone tell Talkins to STFU

Dan Hawkins:

I would have my son, Cody, scramble backwards 30 yards and try to make something happen with his feet. If that somehow didnt work, I always liked to go for it with a trick play on 4th and 40. Anybody out there hiring?

That made me smile and laugh.

As he keeps giving those stupid quotes he will become more and more irrelevant, and further away from ever coaching in football again.

"Well what you gotta do in that scenario is manage the clock and stay positive. I'm big on that, and I tell all my guys that you want to be grounded and centered. On second down, you have your quarterback in the shotgun and play fake it to your tailback, run about 16 yards backwards, and, if he doesn't get sacked or fumbles it, have him launch it into the middle of the field where it can get picked or batted down. There you go, you stop the clock right there. Maybe you audible right there and throw in a double-reverse and have the WR fumble it. I tell my kids to "be abnormal." Then you're on third down, and you gotta throw it in the end zone there, because you only have one timeout left, and you gotta score there, down 2. Maybe you throw a false start or too many men penalty in there and back it up a little. On fourth down you bring your kicker out and there's an opportunity to kind of go, "Hey I'm going to turn away and not look while he's kicking it," while he hits the upright. This isn’t Football 101. This is like doctorate-level stuff."

Goodness...the guy is like a rash that won't go away, just when you think the irritation is gone, DII, like a festering boil, resurfaces...

Yes! We can always count on Buffnut. Rep.

JOHN GAGLIARDI
Coach at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minn.

“In a big game last year against our archrival, our guy hit the left post and it bounced out, so I don’t trust the kickers so much anymore. I probably would go for it and hope our defense would stop them. It turns out the Giants were right.”

I was pretty sure Goodman was out of college eligibility when he left CU, but apparently, that goalpost-hitting machine got an extra year in Collegeville, Minn.

Why anyone asks him his opinion in the first place is beyond me, but after hearing his ridiculous answer I bet they wished they hadn't. "This is like doctorate-level stuff." Geesh:

Dan Reeves: "...that’s probably the reason I never won a Super Bowl as a head coach." No, idot, the reason is because you were so jealous of your QB that you always ran the first two plays of every possession, and in 1992 drafted Tommy ****ing Maddox instead of Carl ****ing Pickens!

I can't believe these coaches get paid to coach and seem to universally have the same opinion as to what to do in that situation. Did NONE of them see the Pats/Ravens game just two weeks ago, when the Ravens did EXACTLY what they were talking about and then missed the FG? You absolutely NEVER put the game on the foot of your kicker. Too much can go wrong. Bad snap, bad hold, block, shank, slip, snowball... Score the damn touchdown, asshole. Force the other team to make a play. I can't believe this is even up for debate.

To be honest, the only one who seemed to have a plan that made any sense was Bellotti. I agree that you want to score a TD, but you'd like to take as much time doing it as you can.

God, im worried he may have some kind of degenerative brain defect. Is he getting dumber? How did he ever get guided by CU?!?

If he has a degenerative brain defect, then it is a monumentally slow moving one. Can't get much dumber than when he was at CU.

The real question is why didn't Belichick let them score on first down and save another time out?

The real question is, did Reeves soil himself a bit when he saw his quote in there with a bunch of nobody coaches? When DHII gets second billing you know you are in esteemed company.

Those willing to forgive ****** coaches for ruining their favorite program are doomed to have more of those same coaches in the future.

You get your horns out, sharpen the sword and polish the stone, and send Money in there to knock it through

"Well you know there are a lot of elements there. I love to throw the football as much as the next guy, but you kind of have to play off where your team is at and move from there. I want our guys to be abnormal. We don’t ever try to get into a whole bunch of that, of ‘Oh these guys are awesome and we have to be supermen, or they guys are no good, we’re going to roll over them.’ The biggest thing we need to do is go out there an galvanize some thing. At some point you think there have been some scars, but we'll get over that, we might just need to throw a little 'Hawk Love" out there and get going at the same time Christopher Columbus set sail once and people thought he was crazy. Sometimes in your life you have to be able to do that a little bit, and that's what I'm doing. Like I told our guys, there is no big mystery to it, it really comes down to a couple of plays. You are always just a couple of plays away, I just know that when I need to nail that riff to the cross, we just need to find someone to be that hammer. We'll just see, see how it plays out."
