Sparkles is at it again........

I heard just a snippet from his OC at csu. Can't recall his name. But I think I heard him say the offense at 'Bama and CSU were his offenses, not Sparkles'. I'm sure he's stumping for the CSU gig. But, man, the guy sounded kind of pissed. Wish I'd heard the entire interview for more context.

Dave Baldwin, actor Chris Cooper's long lost brother. Anyway, Baldwin wasn't at Bama but said the offenses were totally different and CSUs offense was all his. Mentioned not banning hats and jewelry in meetings like Beaver Boy, aka Sparkles.

Jim McElwain w/ a mustache reminds me of Uncle Rico of Napoleon Dynamite.

Lost their top QB recruit. Maybe he didn't feel like competing against his dog.

Your boss, the one that recruited you to a college football backwater at school that doesn't even have a stadium on campus, just got himself a nice little raise and promotion to one of the best gigs in all of college football, and he didn't bother to ask you, or any of your co-workers who have all been working your collective asses off to polish this turd of a football program, to come join him now that he hit it big. Oh, and btw, it's not just that your boss left, but by him leaving, you have essentially been laid off from your position.

You'd be pissed too.

One of the issues of doing it this way is that every assistant coach he ever wants to hire will know that he has absolutely zero loyalty to them, and will walk away from them, even if they do everything so right that he gets himself a promotion...

What was keeping them afloat was the transfers and connections he had.

This could be an opportunity to get the gig for those guys. There could be some continuity by everyone but mcellwain staying. But I also get the fear of being stranded.

Even if he took 2-3 guys it's not like he would have taken the whole crew. Who does that when they go to the big boys? /s

Miami has never had an on campus stadium. Nor has UCLA. Or USC.

Miami mostly doesn't draw squat to most games.

UCLA and USC are in LA with millions of people and huge alumni bases living there.

CSU is in Ft. Collins. Enough said.

The Coliseum is on SCs campus

From phone

No. It belongs to the City of Los Angeles. Its very close to their campus but its on the wrong side of Exposition. And its mostly a **** hole with poor seating in the middle of Watts.

and they aren't college football backwaters either. One does not have an impact on the other. But both are reasons why CSU sucks.

Yeah man, I am quite familiar with SC. Did you really just argue its not on campus b/c its across the street?

Sparkles will only bring people he thinks can help him at Florida.....Isn't the bulk of his staff at CSU western guys? I know Baldwin (OC) is and Marty English (co-DC) has spent the bulk of his career on the front range. I wouldn't take either of them if I were him.

I lived there for a time too. Its owned by Los Angeles and the state. The Orange Bowl was owned in a similar way. When the right re-development project (and their lobbyists) came along the University of Miami got screwed. Like the Orange Bowl the Coliseum has a history of being fiscally neglected. Im sure, for this reason, USC would like to own the Coliseum. But they dont.

Does not change the fact that all Miami teams are **** and have ****ty fan support.

Irrelevant to you that USC signed a 98-year lease to operate the stadium, use it as their home, and even commit to doing $70 million in renovations?

That's USC's stadium and for all practical purposes, it's an on-campus stadium. Unless you want to split hairs and stand on technicalities, that is.

I was responding to your OP that simply stated SC doesn't have an on-campus stadium.

Welcome to big time college football. This happens all of the time.

McElwain has already pissed off the local press apparently, that was quick

Associated Press Florida Gators reporter Mark Long criticized new Florida Gators head coach Jim McElwain for not answering questions. Specifically, Long cited McElwain’s act following questions regarding quarterback Will Grier taking the first snap at Gator spring practice this week.During a radio interview in Jacksonville (you can listen here), Long said the following:

“Right now, to me, he’s a used car salesman and I have a hard time believing anything he says because I don’t find him genuine. This is not a big secret, I’ve said it before….everybody in the media corps – I’m not the only one who feels like this, we all get this sense that he doesn’t answer questions. It’s unbelievably frustrating.”

Oh gee, the media is whining. Sparkles may be a doosh, I don't know, however, **** the media.

Forget the AD, don't worry about the fans and boosters, players don't matter.

He is responsible to a bunch of sports reporters. They are the ones who matter.

Got to feel a little sorry for Sparkles. He gets his dream job, and he's on the hot seat before the contract ink even dries. The schedule over the next 2 years does him no favors either. They won't be happy with 7-5 or 8-4.
