Special teams are kind of important

UCLA missed three field goals (one blocked) and gave up a punt return for a touchdown.

Bad special teams on their part, or are we improving? I'd say that Oliver is an upgrade at PR. I still think Graham is a liability but he did what he needed to yesterday. KO coverage was mediocre to poor, but it didn't cost us more than about 20 total yards of field position.

At the end of the day, it was special teams that was the difference in the game... And we won because of it. When you win because of special teams, the game will always be ugly. That's just how it goes. But who would have ever thought our special teams play would win us a game?

The expression on Graham's face each kick-off was like he was about to **** his pants. God bless him - probably kicks well in practice - but he might not have the constitution to kick in games at the college level.

Oliver is an amazing athlete and he has the mental part - that was a good discovery.

The lineman rolling a gap to their left really messed UCLA up - caused several false starts. Also I think we were hitting their long-snapper before he got the snap away and that made a big difference. There is some good stuff happening on ST.

Can someone find a replay of Chido's blocked FG? The athleticism shown on that play was eye popping and should have all 31 scouts in attendance drooling over him. Elway got a first hand look and I would love to see the Broncos go get him. One of my all time favorite Buffs.

I've heard MM say they are going to try to get Diego an extra year. Not sure how confident I will be with a kicker coming off a torn Achilles.

So, yeah... Please recruit a kicker.

Hopefully we see a lot of Price these last few games. He was looking alright before the ASU game..

yes.

good special teams win the field position battle.

good special teams makes decision easier on 4th & 3 from the 30

big special teams plays fire up the crowds

oh, and once your school becomes known for great special teams, your coaches start reminding recruits that "almost all NFL rookies start on special teams" and shjt gets real good.

I think Price is better than he has shown. He shouldn't even be playing right now. Graham is a bandaid for this season only.

ST plays like that could move Chido ahead of some other guys on teams NFL Draft boards.

I thought CUs punter was touted as some kind of All American out of High School.

He is so mediocre I can't remember his name.

Alex Kinney out of Fort Collins ...

He earned All-Colorado and first-team All-State honors from the Denver Post, Mile High Sports Magazine and Six Zero Strength & Fitness as a senior, when he also garnered All-USA Colorado (USA Today/American Family Insurance) and first-team All-Front Range League recognition at both kicker and punter. He made the prestigious Western 100 list compiled by the Tacoma News-Tribune (one of four specialists on the paper’s 2014 squad), and some services had him ranked as the No.3 prep punter nationally. He was a second-team All-State selection as a junior (kicker), when he was the league’s first-team kicker and second-team punter. As a senior, he averaged 41.6 yards for 47 punts...

So far in 2016, he's averaged 42.5 yards with a long punt of 53 this year.

Kinney is a good punter. Had one bad game on the road after he got rattled by the block which wasn't his fault.
