Spencer Dinwiddie - NBA PG (BKN Nets)

FLounder

Think Positive and life will be Positive.
Spencers rookie season is in the books. He looks to have an incredibly bright future ahead of him for the Pistons.

They really were having a problem keeping him off the court this year. Watching him do that stuff at the NBA level makes me really sad we didn't get to see him here 1 more year.

Big things in the future for The Mayor.

they were? he averaged 13 min/game. hardly screams of keeping him on the floor. Then midseason they traded for Reggie Jackson aka a potential franchise point guard in some people's eyes. I love Spencer but he did not have a good rookie year. PER of 10.26 ranked #69 PG in the league

They did not play spencer nearly as early or often as they could have. There was an issue with the pistons "tanking" because they weren't ready to make a playoff run this year.

If they were "tanking", wouldn't it make sense to play the rookie PG who's figuring things out instead of trading for Jackson?

Don't get me wrong, Spencer has a bright place on the Pistons, but the team isn't hiding him because they want to be bad. That's also not why they traded for Jackson. Spencer's gonna have to make some serious progress if the team is going to build around him. He was statistically a replacement player this year (slightly below actually at -0.1).

That was what it seemed that SVG's strategy was at the beginning of the year. Obviously that changed when they were still in the hunt as they pushed the trade deadline.

Spencer has his chance to shine for the Pistons tonight in preseason game 1. Brandon Jennings tore his Achillies and won't be ready until after the regular season starts. Steve Blake has a concussion and is out indefinitly. Reggie Jackson has a sore Achillies and will be rested, leaving SD as the only true point guard on the roster. He'll get lots of minutes.

Not exactly a stellar performance. 1-3 from the field, 4 assists, 3 turnovers, 4 personal fouls. He did start and play 16 minutes.

I think he left his shooting touch back in college. 30% last year, poor shooting performances in summer league, another poor shooting performance tonight.

Chicago is a much better city than Detroit. Bulls are probably in a better position than the Pistons too. If Spencer can stick, he should enjoy his time in the windy city.

Happy for Spencer. I think a change of scenery will be good for him. For some reason, he's been in a shooting funk in Detroit. That more than anything has held his minutes down so low. Hopefully the move to Chicago will be the thing to get him out of his own head and playing loose. He shot 57.6% from the FT line this past season, so something was clearly not right.

Also, I think Chicago is a great place for Dinwiddie because of the Point Guard situation. Aaron Brooks is starting to get up their in age and Derrick Rose is always hurt. He could get some solid minutes. I want Dinwiddie to be in the league for years to come and truly believe he has the capacity to become a starting PG.

Didn't matter how well he played in Detroit they had to much invested in the guys in front of him, he wasn't going anywhere with that team.

In Chicago he should get a fair chance to prove what he can do and to earn time, not just scraps.

Because of the Pistons point guard depth, I think the Bulls are a much better spot for him to develop. With talks of Noah leaving, and rumors of Rose being dealt, he should have every opportunity to get some minutes and develop.

Obvious negative, is that the team is going to probably be really bad over the next couple seasons.

Chicago has waived guard Spencer Dinwiddie, league sources tell The Vertical.

I hope he hooks on somewhere with a need for a good guard. I'd love to see him on the Nuggets but there's quite a crowd at the guard position.

well ****. Wonder what's up with his shot/knee.

I think the knee is fine. His shot got screwed up, though. Psychological or mechanics or both. But all I know is that Spencer The ****ing Mayor Dinwiddie doesn't shoot under 60% on FTs while being unable to hit a jump shot.

I keep thinking about the game against Oregon a few years ago when we were down double figures in the 2nd half, and the Mayor just took over. Scored 15 consecutive points and just dominated play in all phases. His shooting will come back. Many times in the nba it's a matter of fit, and that's all. Even Chauncey bounced around. I want to see Spencer in a place that's a good fit.

Odd timing, since he was on a non-guaranteed deal. Would think he'd be given some minutes in Summer League, and have a chance to show trade value to other teams. It's a move that doesn't make sense, unless he's having injury problems to such an extent he wasn't going to be able to play

Chauncey got bounced around from team to team. Sometimes it takes time.

Chauncey was also the 3rd overall pick. Some could say Livingston, but then again..

How come I see Spencer playing against Boston for Chicago in the Vegas summer league game? He is still on the team's roster page. Not on the summer league roster.
