Spring Official Visits - a boon for CU

Of all the rules changes, this is the one that has the biggest impact for us.

Schools with local talent had a huge advantage with spring and summer recruiting because so many prospects are within a short drive of campus. That left schools like CU (pretty much everyone in the north, mountain or midwest regions) in a situation where unless they played ball with player representatives who would bring their kids on road trips or broke the rules by finding ways to pay for those trips under the table, they didn't get a lot of on-campus visitors until it was OV time in the fall.

This is an absolute game changer for recruiting competitiveness. This means it's an absolute game changer for attracting coaches, too, because it changes the math on what programs are positioned to win -- location proximity to championship talent is no longer as big of a factor.

Early signs are that with a better recruiting staff at CU this year and this new rule that our Buffs are on track to set a much higher bar in its recruiting results. 2019 class is an exciting and important year.

I’d noticed the spring visits and thought they were a bit unusual. Now I know why. Thanks for the info. I hope you’re right about this being a game changer.
