I found this part really interesting:

Attempts to investigate Combs were initially stymied because police were unable to locate the related power of attorney documents. They were eventually located in former head coach, Tom Osborne's personal safe. Osborne, who also served as the university's athletic director, stated that he was unaware that the documents were part of an investigation.

His ethics. They're really easy to ignore when they're locked away like that, but he always knows where to go when he needs them.

Amazing how a guy with such a bad memory can be the AD at a major university.

How many times over the years have we heard (and how many more have we not heard) where the key piece of evidence that would make some fusker look bad is conveniently in Dr. Tom's safe and he wasn't aware that the police might be interested in it.

We talk about the cheating in the old SWC schools and the SEC and the police looking the other way at places like FSU but considering the long and constant covering up of all sorts of criminal behavior including theft, armed robberies, domestic violence, rape, assault, and now robbing the life savings of old women it is hard to imagine a filthier program top to bottom than Nebraska.

The only comparable might be Baylor trying to hide a drug deal turned into murder among some other things but even they don't have the long and constant string of criminal acts with cover-ups all tied to the Athletic Director's office.

And rather than hold him accountable they sent him to Washington and consider him a hero.

When asked for comments Osborne said "he was not aware that the FBI would be interested in those items."
