Streaming CU Games Internationally

NeverGiveIn

Confused by the facts
For anyone going (or currently) overseas,
If you have a wifi connection and a streaming device like a Roku, Apple TV, etc. You can download the YouTube app and stream the Pac-12 Network's live feed for free, sans commercials.

...I'm not so sure how to stream ESPN games, however, and didn't keep my cable subscription when I left the country, anyone know or have ideas?

I'll have to try it again, but I don't think I could download the YouTube app on my Apple TV. I bought the Apple TV overseas though so I think there's just an issue with the App Store defaulting to the non-US version. I should've bought Apple TV in the US (lesson learned).

For ESPN, I've been using my friend's Xfinity subscription and a US VPN. Do you have anyone back in the US that'll share their login? That's the only solution I came across. ESPN's app works with Airplay so I just stream the game on my iPad and Airplay it to my TV. I also use the Fox Sports app and Pac 12 app the same way, but Airplay doesn't work with those. Sometimes I'll use YouTube on my computer to get a better stream quality when the game is on Pac-12 Network.

Yeah I bought my Apple TV overseas and the YouTube app works well on the Pac-12 Network live channel, not sure maybe it's country specific.

But for ESPN, I could download the app to the Apple TV, but it gives me a regional error when I try to open it. I do still have a U.S. iPad, so it sounds like you recommend using a current login for live streaming, set up a VPN, and then Airplaying it to the Apple TV? I'm a bit of a Luddite, so I'm not sure if I can figure out how to set up a VPN, but...that's a good ****in' idea, whit.

Good ****in' idea.

When I was in Italy, I could use my vpn to connect to a us vpn server and then authenticate my sling tv account to access espn, Pac 12 network, etc, but I do have a valid us based account.

This.

I have used "express vpn" to make the vpn thing easy (there's a free trial too so you can test it out before the game, small subscription fee when ongoing) on iPhone or iPad, airplay to tv and done
For ESPN, use someone's login and the watch espn app OR get sling. Free trial available on Sling as well

Has nothing to do with where the device was bought. I have European, US and UK Apple IDs that work just fine.

The Fox Sports iOS app doesn't work for me either as it requires your location setting to be enabled in iOS, but AirPlay works just fine with P12N for me.

Need a DNS to use the ESPN (or Fox Sports) tvOS app.

Interesting, thanks

Used my ipad, express VPN, and Sling TV to watch (complete waste of time the way the Buffs played). If you set up like this don’t let slingtv use your location. Took me a while yesterday to figure that out.

Yeah same here - the ESPN channel through the Sling app kept buffering and stalling, so I just logged into Express VPN, the WatchESPN app with my Sling TV account info, and the live feed through the ESPN app, which worked great (on my iPad).

Was grateful for being able to watch it, in spite of how the game turned out.
