Indiana no longer will allow an athlete with a history of either sexual or domestic violence to join one of its athletic programs thanks to a new policy passed earlier this month by the university.

According to the Indianapolis Star, the policy bans "any prospective student-athlete -- whether a transfer student, incoming freshman, or other status -- who has been convicted of or pleaded guilty or no contest to a felony involving sexual violence." Considered under "sexual violence" are domestic violence, rape and sexual assault.

Excellent policy that I hope leads the way toward other programs adopting it. Would love for the Buffs to be the first program in the Pac-12 to make this move. Should also apply to university employees.

I could see this being a recommendation coming out of the investigation going on right now.

A nice step, just think many schools may already be doing something along this line.

Only applies to felony convictions or no contest pleas, which generally means a pretty serious charge. That leaves a most plea deals not covered under this new policy.

F**K Bailer is jumping for joy right now thinking of the huge boost to their recruiting thanks to these policies at other schools.

And sealed records since we're talking about recruits and they're almost all minors.
