Tad Boyle adds two home games to CU Buffs schedule

The games are Fort Lewis on 11-11 and New Orleans on 12-28. They aren't really going to do much for our SOS I think. They are both DII schools. Fort Lewis is in the RMAC and they went 24-8 last year. New Orleans is going to be independent this year as it's in the middle of a transition from DI to DIII. It's a pretty complicated story actually but they went 16-6 last year. Both should be wins and Fort Lewis will hopefully be a good way to get the kinks out before Puerto Rico.

Games won't factor into RPI at all, but they will go on the record as wins. Good, strategic additions IMO.

Glad we've got the Ft. Lewis game to get some final preparation in for Wichita State. That's going to be a tough tournament with everyone scrapping for those precious OOC wins that are so valuable later on.

I believe this is the first year New Orleans is DII. They had been in the Sun Belt

You are correct sir. From wikipedia:

UNO's athletic teams participated in Division II from 1969 to 1975 before moving to Division I in and becoming a charter member of the Sun Belt Conference.[SUP]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Orleans_Privateers#cite_note-D2move-1[/SUP] In December 2009, the LSU Board approved a proposal from UNO to move its athletic program from NCAA Division I to Division III following a drop in enrollment and associated budget cuts following Hurricane Katrina.[SUP]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Orleans_Privateers#cite_note-D3move-2[/SUP] The school submitted an application in May 2010 and in June 2010, received initial approval from the NCAA Division III Membership Committee to move forward with its transition. The school originally announced that it intended to add football, along with women's golf and women's soccer as part of the transition to NCAA Division III.[SUP]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Orleans_Privateers#cite_note-ADChampion-3[/SUP]

UNO left the Sun Belt on June 30, 2010 and competed as an NCAA Division I Independent in all sports during the 2010-11 academic year as part of the transition from Division I. Following the findings of the financial analysis and institutional research the LSU Board of Supervisors meetings approved the move down from Division I to Division II instead of Division III. UNO will be placed on the NCAA Division II Membership Committee spring agenda, to compete in Division II sports. The Privateers also plan to add women’s golf, women’s soccer and football to reach Division II’s minimum requirement of 10 sports. UNO will begin playing at the Division II level and competing as an independent team during the provisional 2011-12 academic year before the school becomes a full member of the Division II and member of the Gulf South Conference in 2012-13.[SUP]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Orleans_Privateers#cite_note-looks-4[/SUP]

I think it should end up in that 80-100 range with the conference slate getting us around 50 or 60.

if that comes true, then that's OK for this year. i'll concede that for this young team that loses a lot from last season....straight up wins is key. better to win 16-17 and final rpi a little higher than win 14 and be in the 30's. it's a move in the right direction. in the future, i'd much rather see that final number between 30-40. we can debate the merits of the rpi and whether or not the NCAA (says) whether or not they use/don't use it....but, you need to take it off the board as a reason you get left out of the Dance.

what was the name of the athletic big man that played for the Nuggets who went to UNO? not Keon Clark, but same kind of player and about the same time period. Tim Floyd was his coach at UNO.

According to a posting by someone from New Orleans on the WBB scheduliing board (where schools post their needs/wants for games to complete their schedules) New Orleans is still a D1 counter for this season as they transition to D2

That could work out for us if NO can repeat last year's record.
