Tad Boyle to Memphis? (Edit - No)

5 million?

this big raise was the contract he signed in 2013, that has been subsequently renewed/extended by a year ever since. this is the language is that contract.

The contract includes buyout clauses that would require Boyle to pay $750,000 to CU if he leaves before April 30, 2014 and $500,000 if he leaves between April 30, 2014 and before April 30, 2015 and $350,000 if leaves any time after that.

so $350k? (and fwiw, I hope your right with the $5M!)

I sure hope we haven't been extending his contract every year without at least extending his buyout. But if it is $750k or less, that doesn't sound to me like it will stop too many teams.

Well that's disappointing, I just thought it would be the amount on his contract left. I would think that ever year he is extended it would delay those numbers a year and I believe he has been extended every year since then correct?

The funny thing about that thread is that the goobers there think all Memphis would have to do is offer the job to Tad and he'd be on the next flight out. They seem to have an over inflated sense of self worth. It's going to be crushing when Tad says "who?"

Heard the same type attitude from media bleebs when the land thieves were looking for someone to replace Capel. "Just throw some $ at Boyle. He'll bolt from Boulder to Norman in a nanosecond".

I chortled.

Who is bigger? Honestly, I'd put Memphis better than KSU, Nebraska and the others.

I agree. Memphis is a legit basketball job, although they've really lost out in the conference realignment shuffle. There is a 0% chance of Tad going there.

Yep. They hired Calipari when every other school was too scared to take a chance on him, so now a lot of Memphis fans think their school is some sort of hot ish destination job that big name coaches are lining up for. Now they're the latest fan base to drive themselves crazy waiting for Gregg Marshall to be hired. Yeah right. Good luck with that. He's waiting for one of the blue blood jobs to open up. Memphis ain't it.

Memphis is a better bball job than CU because they have a much better recruiting hotbed in Tennessee and the surrounding area. They are definitely hurt by playing in a crappy conference, but they will pony up dollars for the rigth coach, and it seems Boyle has a low buyout, but I don't see him leaving.

Considering the history of CU bball program, CU would be at the bottom of the conference with Oregon State and Washington State. The fact that Boyle has made the tourney 4/6 years (should be 5/6) is an amazing feat considering his recruiting is middle to bottom of the conference.

Honestly, Boyle has done a terrific job here minus the lack of tourney and landing top 50-100 guys.

Boyle would only leave for a blueblood type school, which would be great news for us because that would mean a deep run in the tourney and the CU job would be much more attractive than when Boyle was originally hired.

Yes. Memphis is a top 25-30 college hoops job. Huge fan base, huge arena, great recruiting pool, & history of success. They've finished 26% of their seasons ranked in the AP poll & 40% of their seasons have finished with a trip to the Dance. That said, they have one of the most delusional fan bases in college basketball.

Glad to see Tad being rumored with actual basketball schools now even if the rumor is completely without merit.

Well it took 34 pages in some cases, but some of their posters have talked themselves into Boyle being worthy enough for them.
