Tad Boyle turns attention to scheduling for next season

I hadn't heard about the Fresno game. So we have 8 non-conference games so far. That leaves another 4-6. Once again, I'd like to support 'Nik's idea of some good local teams like Wichita State and New Mexico. I'd love to see something get going there.

Charleston Classic is going to be fantastic for us in terms of helping the resume. And remember folks, Baylor is in the tournament. Our chances for revenge are coming sooner than you were probably imagining.

Don't much like facing Wyoming on the road, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

We need to seriously look into playing New Mexico and/or New Mexico State, both regional quality opponents. Utah State, Wichita State also strong options as well. And, while it may not be popular, a game against an old Big 8/Big 12 foe could provide a good resume booster without having to travel across the country.

Here was my reply in the comment section of the article to someone who suggested getting a national power program to come to Boulder for a game:

That would be ideal. However, geography makes it tougher for CU. There are much easier road trips for all those teams in the east if they want to schedule a road game against a Top 75 RPI opponent than coming all the way to Colorado.

I think we need to look within the region and the west to pick up some more quality opponents. Programs like Wichita State, Creighton, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Utah State, BYU, Gonzaga, St. Mary's, San Diego State, UNLV and Nevada are all more likely to make a non-conference road trip to Boulder. They're in the same geographic boat that we are and a CU game is now an RPI booster for them.

Awesome, I hope we play them in the championship and we put Mills in to do this to that periscope dork:

I like the local scheduling idea with the quality programs in our geographical area. I'm thinking just for old times sake, we could schedule the Nubs in Basketball so we could have a B1G team and give Miles a refresher on playing Colorado.

Couldn't agree more.

I was seriously considering going until I saw that there is a home football game that weekend.

Laramie is less than an hour from Boulder? News to me.

It's actually 2 hours and 20 minutes give or take. It's actually almost the same whether you go over to I-25 or go directly North on 287. I was sort of surprised when I discovered that.

Roadtrip to the Wyoming game? Have to figure Bohn will put something together.

In.

I did that a few years ago and we were 3 of the 5 non-family CU fans in attendance. Even Wyo fans were shocked we drove up. There was a serious blizzard going down, though...

Made it in just under an hour n 45 minutes once. Broke a few laws on the way.

I'd be in for a road trip. It'd be nice if they scheduled Wyo and CSU on a fri or sat night. Nights when people are more likely to go to a college basketball game in Nov and Dec.

Why? Its less than a hour bus ride away.

Why? Go check the score from this year and get back to me. Or were you not on the bandwagon yet at that point ? The regional aspect of it is great. The risk of it turning into a "bad" loss is not.

The thing that gives me the most hope in that game, despite Wyoming being a tough home court to win on, is that we have guys who have learned to respect them and want payback after this year. Spencer and Ski are probably our best zone busters and that was the game that they studied on film to figure it out. It was also the game that made them say "never forget, never again". We'll be ready for that one.

Damn fair weather fan.

totally he is going to use the I'm 2000 miles away excuse again.

in seriousness, are you going to the Charleston Classic by any chance CVille?

I'm planning to. Not very often that the Buffs come within driving range for me, so I feel like I should take advantage of it. Add in the fact that it's a strong field (+ chance at revenge against Baylor) along with Charleston being a great place, and I'm pretty much sold.

287 is actually a fun little drive, I usually take it instead of going all the way to I-25 when I drive back from Utah.
