Colorado: The Buffaloes are sneaky good here, even though they only ranked 48th in the nation in run defense in 2010. Both starters, Will Pericak and Curtis Cunningham, are back, but Conrad Obi was a revelation this spring. He looked like a future NFL draft choice, not a player who'd mostly been a bust. Nate Bonsu, who missed spring with a knee injury, also should help.

I think the Buffs are solid in the DL but lack a difference maker at the DT position. I am hoping the Richter can be a force inside...he is over 300 lbs and one of the strongest guys on the team.

The defense if where I think better coaching can make a big difference. I think the schemes were too predictable and no adjustments made to the offenses.
 
I agree with Ted on this one(of course I'm biased). I think our D-line can be a big anchor for the entire D this year.
 
Washington: Ta'amu seemed to find himself during the second half of last year, and the 330-pounder could end up getting some All-American consideration if he consistently plays like he did against Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl. Sione Potoa'e and Semisi Tokolahi are both experienced, and Lawrence Lagafuaina a space-grabbing, 344-pound redshirt freshman.

From all reports he plays very stiff. With his strength he may be able to demand a couple of double teams to free up others every now and then.
 
Not just at Washington by the way.... Pacific Islanders make up probably half of the players listed. The other observation is that we recruited about half of these guys and lost.

How many of their island recruits do you think will remain academically eligible?
 
If OBI continues his play and Kasa improves then yes, they are in good shape. Also, look forward to seeing Bonsu back in the mix again, he could really help the depth.

With the loss of west, really need kasa to reach his potential.

This was about DTs - if you're throwing out DE names now, I'm excited to see what impact Nembot can have.

It almost feels like Ted Miller is more optimistic than most Buff fans. Say what you will about ESPN but the he sings our praises pretty well, and is really high on Boulder. Ubben sucked.
 
Ted Miller definitely digs the Buffs - I agree about Ubben, total moron with no sense of CU's traditional accomplishments in the Big8/Big12. He even admitted once that he didn't even follow Big12 football when he was a student at Mizzou

As for DT, you can chalk up CU for being in good shape at DT in the near future as well! Welcome to Boulder, Justin Solis!
 
DT is definitely stocked as long as the guys stay healthy. DE is a concern because Hartigan leaves after the year leaving an inconsistent track record and bill of health with Kasa and beyond that who knows. Want pass rushers. Now.
 
DT is in good shape. Obi-Pericak-Bonsu-Cunningham should be a very solid group for us in all situations. We still have to see what Poston can bring to the table too.

DE we need Kasa to fulfill his potential and one of the true frosh's to step in right away. My money is on Juda Parker seeing lots of PT. Nembot is too raw of a FB player despite his size.
 
I don't worry to much about DE after this year. Switching to a 3-4 will really change our requirements there.
 
If our D-line is close to as good as we hope, I'm betting we will se a substantial improvement in pass D. Ironic given we graduated 2 NFL corners.
