Tentative Spring Practice Schedule

Not gonna lie, I liked Mac's approach to try and give players as much time as possible to come back from injuries but it will be nice to have an actual game.

Tucker, it seems, is valuing it as a promotional opportunity. PACN and ESPN are doing their camp tours and coverage in the spring. Our camp was over by the time this coverage started.

Also, the only reason I saw value in the earlier camp start was injury recovery -- but injuries happen at least as much in training as in practice so I'm not sure it really matters. However, there is a lot to be said for wanting all focus on recruiting in January while having the S&C staff full 2-month cycle to set the tone for the next season and get the players ready for spring practice. There's a reason almost everyone in the country does things the way HCMT will with spring practices instead of what HCMM had moved to.

I don’t care about Spring Football. I just want the Buffs to run the score up as much as possible next season.

It needs to be a real game, but I think it can be played in two totally different halves or even three periods, where the 1's and some 2's play only the first half at the most, and then let all the rest of the roster play hard the rest of the way. There are a lot of kids on this roster that would love to spend an entire day playing the game they love.

The Spring Fiasco was a definite puzzler to me, and a slap in the face to the program. Why MM thought that day had any value to anyone is beyond me.

Georgia had 82K people for the spring game last year.
I hope Tucker can turn this into what it should be.
We need to change the culture!
"Why not Colorado"

Bring back all the legendary Buffs to compete in some challenges before the game so that it could entertain the fans, and then put on a Music Concert at the end after you let all the fans onto the field. Most of the time, they replace or redo the grass after the Spring Game anyway. The main game could have a running clock so that it lasts exactly as long as you want it to so that fans can count on having a 2 hour experience and then can decide to stay for the concert.

I'm in!

The later practices also coincide with the new rules on being able to host official visits in the spring.

iirc, spring OVs start April 15th.

The later start to spring ball, also probably gives Wilson a head start on getting the players to the new specs that Tucker is looking for.

The cynic in me says he does this because his recruiting was subpar, therefore had no depth, therefore couldn't afford to lose anyone. I think CMT will have us to the point where he's not worried about that and it's next man up.

Eh, you never want injuries regardless of how good your depth is and I doubt that was the specific reason for MM having it earlier. Just a philosophical decision to give the players enough time to rest/recover before Summer/Fall Camp where it's pretty much full go from end of July to December without much break.

You are probably right...it was my cynic speaking ;)
