Texas AD charging Texas Tech band $100 per ticket

lulz.

I actually am literally laughing out loud. The Tech band has something like 500 people. That's $50,000. Outstanding. Nothing like some good will to keep your conference mates happy.

Honestly, truth is stranger than fiction when it comes to UT athletics.

If Tech brings 44,000 band members, they can cover Strong's buyout!

I'd pay $100 to see a band that large. But, I'd have nowhere to sit.

This is deplorable. Either invite the band and be good hosts, or don't invite them at all.

the UT AD is goign to get himself fired along with Strong.

Mack brown will be AD w/in 12 months.

Also, all conference championships (except for Big XII...'cause you know...) MUST be held in Austin forever!

I hate Texas but I kind of like this. I cannot stand other team's bands in my team's stadium.

I don't like it at Folsom, but I do like the pageantry of CFB and that's a huge part of it. Been to away games with the band there and I appreciated it. Ralphie has traveled to away games, right? Many fans will never hear many fight songs. It does get annoying when you have an OU or SC that plays every 4th play. That gets old real fast.

CU has just been dirt poor and ****ty on the road to make it a common thing.

Ralphie has traveled to exactly one regular season road game. Georgia.

I think a combination of sitting in section 2 (the band seems to always be in section 1) and going to a lot of CU OU games has made me hate it too much for rational discourse.

Did anybody even ask the Texas Tech committee what they thought of this?

Damn. Imagine had we won. Ralphie could have crapped on their field to put the sprinkle on top.

Now imagine if we did that for other games, maybe just one a year. Ralphie at Nubs, UM, SC, etc.... Would be awesome.

Am curious, how often do bands travel during nonconf and conf games? I dont' recall seeing more than one or two visiting bands in Folsom. Maybe that's because I'm out trying to refresh my disgusted thoughts from the first half performance.

CU used to travel semi-often when Bohn was AD. Now, due to AD funding being routed elsewhere, they send a 30 member band to 1 away game. This year that trip will be to UCLA.

Not many bands come here for a variety of reasons. 1) Travel cost. Long flight and hotels are not available in town. 2) CU Fans have a bad rep. Back in the days of marshmallows in the stadium, the students caused somewhere close to $10k in damage by throwing marshmallows filled with batteries and quarters along with fruit at Oklahoma's marching band.
