What if Embree has been told that he keeps his job if both coordinators get fired ? and what if Embree can't stomach the idea of firing his good friend ?
Could this be the one way Embree gets canned ?

Two years ago there were those up at CU who didn't trust EB and didn't want him back on campus earning a paycheck. Wouldn't surprise me if Embree is facing this decision right now.

That's the hope. That Embree will refuse to make the staff changes being demanded and he chooses his own end.

I can't believe he has that option, but it sounds like he does. Dysfunction abounds.

CU needs to be pressured to make a break and have a fresh start.

Well, in less than a week, we will begin to see where this is going, right? They can't tarry.

I think most of this hinges on the Utah game. You would think that if they were going to keep Embree, they would have come out now, before the game with a definitive statement (unless they're scared of no one showing on Friday if they announce he is staying.... which is scary in its own right).

God God you have a short memory. Remember 2009 when we thought it was a done deal? Not 12 MOTHER F U C K I N G HOURS before the game, Bohner comes out with his definitive statement to keep DII which we still pay for today.

Oh yeah - good point. So, we still have time

How about this scenario. They bring in an assistant HC. Fire Brown and reassign EB. The assistant HC would handle OC duties. Just pulling it out of my ass and throwing it out there. EB becomes RB coach.

Won't happen - If that truly is the ultimatum then Bieniemy is gone in either scenario, there's no way he'd let Embree go down with him simply out of loyalty. Instead they'll announce Bieniemy has stepped down to return to the NFL or some other such opportunity TBD.

Having said that, I don't think Embree is getting that ultimatum. If the AD has determined both coordinators need to go then Embree's authority is gone and there's no way he can return. Otherwise they'll make a few token staff changes, limited to Brown, Marshall, Cabral, and anyone else who leaves to pursue work elsewhere and hope against hope that things improve. I'm hoping for the former and expecting the latter.

They can try and replace every coach and keep Embree. Who is going to come and replace any open spot?

Not a coach worth anything is going to come here with Embree as dead man walking.

It isn't like we were good on offense and bad on D, or just needed to improve our special teams play. We SUCK at every aspect of football. Replacing the O line coach is not going to help, simply replacing the D coordinator is not going to help.

When you are the laughing stock of BCS football you fire everyone and start over.

CU football is infected with flesh eating bacteria and we are talking about applying some Bactine and Band-Aids.

If JE is not fired, I would hope that he'd make the decision to replace his OC and DC on his own volition. I will not hold him responsible for the competence of his supervisors (Bohn, DiStefano, Benson), but I do hold him responsible for the compentence of his subordinates (Brown and EB). These guys have loyalty to each other, but they also have a lot of NFL experience. The league is pretty cutthroat, and friendships will not trump business decisions. So if the administration chooses to bring Embree back, I would expect him to make any and all changes possible to try to get the program moving in a new direction.

Excellent post.

If you don't have the right leader, then you don't have the right leader. If you find yourself in a giant hole, you don't keep digging. If you're selling your product for $3 and it costs $5 to make, you won't make money by selling more of your product. If you're driving in the wrong direction, you don't keep driving driving in the same direction. If you are lost in Chicago, spending more time studying a map of Dallas is not going to help you find your way.
