Since Embree was hired, a lot of people who know me have asked me what I think of the hire. I've typically said the jury is still out.

The jury is in, now.

There is still a lot of football left to be played this year.

Next week will be a win. Then the tough schedule begins. At Fresno and at Washington State will truly tell the tale.

If we lose next week, the Embree needs to be gone at the end of the year

I disagree. The tale was told today. Regardless of what happens in those games, this game showed the world that Embree can't do the job. He might luck into a game or two, but he'll never be the guy to turn the program around. He doesn't have what it takes. He's not the guy. I can hope he'll win some games, and I certainly do. Problem is, when you are up against a dog sh!t CSU team that is playing it's very first game under a new head coach, you need to win that game. He didn't. I don't care what the reasons are.

If we keep switching coaches, we will never have a winning season, unless somebody gets out a fat wallet and hires a proven winner. We don't even have enough money for an indoor practice facility. I say sign Frank Solich - we could afford him, and that little sucker can coach. Besides he would like to get back into a major conference, Nebraska screwed him.

Right, because those two things (an indoor practice facility and a head football coach) cost exactly the same amount.

I harken back to the days when Oklahoma hired Schnellenberger. He was fired after one year. Once it was obvious he was a fraud, OU cut him loose. I would argue that the longer we keep him, the deeper our hole gets. I'd fire him tonight if I had the ability to do so.

You helping out and donating your small part for facilities upgrades, or are you part of the problem?

Yep. There is a consequence to starting a lot of really young players. Some patience is required. This isn't the scumbag who was here before.

Agreed. But we're broke and irrelevant, so get used to it if you aren't already.

Oh, Jeeezus. Solich? Are you kidding me? :wtf:

No. The next coaching search needs to be a thorough, well researched process. We need a guy who has experience turning programs around. Unfortunately, the only guys that come to mind with that kind of experience are Mack Brown, Bob Stoops, Urban Meyer, Pete Carroll and Nick Saban. I don't think any of those will make our short list.

OU fired Schnellenberger, and hired John Blake. They kept Blake for 3 years, and rather than going out and hiring a coach with experience at building football programs, they hired Bob Stoops - who had been a defensive coordinator at KSU and Florida.

I don't think the results OU was able to achieve under Stoops are typical, and I certainly wouldn't expect even the hottest assistant coach to come in and win immediately at CU.

We can't afford anybody with that track record. Even if we could come up with some $ do you really think a stud would want the CU job with our administration and facilities.

Before we hired Hawkins, I said we should have hired Pelini, and got the same response.

Well, they are going to find out that they cannot afford craptastic football year in and year out. This AD needs football to pay the bills and like in any well thought out business, you sometimes have to invest in the product infrastructure. With the conference money, they can afford to hire just about anyone. The money excuse does not hold water anymore.

I want to see three more games before I even hear this kind if ****.

Those three games better be wins or else it will only get worse. And rightfully so. CSU was the 2nd worst team we'll play this year, so I have trouble expecting big things the rest of the year. I honestly think we could be looking down the barrel of a 2 win season.

Also agree with you on the admin part. Unless there are changes at that level, we will suck for a long time more. They do not care.

And what will those three games tell you?

The guy just shat the bed against CSU. Good coaches don't to that.

Barnett was a game away from the national championship in '01 and lost to CSU in '02.

I don't believe Neuheisal ever lost to CSU.

F it. I say pull the trigger now. I know it won't happen but at the end of the season we need a new hc and staff from a winning program and we do have the money now. Oh, and fire bohnhead also.

Get serious, do you really think we could afford a top of the line coach like a Saban, Meyer, Miles etc.

Buffs will have the $$ but instead of investing in an BMW, Mercedes or even an Acura they go for the Kia.
