The Mayor Gets More Love

Congrats to the mayor, his ortg has been great this year, notice no tony wroten on that list nor any other p12 frosh.

Nathan walker has been killing it lately on his blog, not bad for a 23ish yr old who does this on the side. He has been coming up with new bball stat theories and is one of the guys taking this stuff to the next level.

Unfortunately the date on my post is incorrect. If we update "The Mayor"s stat line, he drops from #6 to #11(assuming all the other players stay in the same place). Still pretty good. I'm honestly surprised that he is even on this list. However, maintaining an offensive rating >120 while using >20% of your team's possessions is pretty rare: only 122 qualifying* players in the NCAA can say they have achieved that.

* more than 25% of their team's minutes played.

You're looking at the wrong part. I prefer to focus on the fact that he's maintaining such a high rating while handling the ball as much as he is.

for me, the glass is half empty and the bartender is on the other side of the bar.
 
I hope he can get back into the flow a bit tonight. As I mentioned in my Stanford preview, he has more fouls than points over the past two games. He's receiving added scrutiny and defensive attention, now he has to rise above it. Growing pains...
 
Another rough night, 40% efg, 5 to's, 4 fouls and a liability on d. It is tough to play on the road, even tougher for freshman.
 
Boys' basketball: Spencer Dinwiddie starts Pac-12 play with 19 points

The college beat writers will soon be writing about another Los Angeles product who got away. Freshman Spencer Dinwiddie, last season's City Section player of the year from Woodland Hills Taft, scored 19 points in his Pac-12 debut for Colorado.

He has grown to 6 feet 5. He's going to make the All-Pac-12 freshman team. And people will be asking why UCLA, which hasn't signed a top point guard in years, didn't go after Dinwiddie.

Well, UCLA did -- too late. The Bruins focused on bigger national names, and by the time they decided Dinwiddie would be good enough for them, he was gone.

Big mistake.
