The Mayor's Draft stock?

Sounds like the Mayor turned some heads down at the Charleston Classic. Spencer has now been updated on NBAdraft.net. They are predicting he will go with the 21st pick of the 2014 Draft.

With the size to guard the 2 spot, handles to play the point and the ability to drain open 3's, I anticipate him moving up to around the 15th spot at the end of the year.

I like him. He's a little combo-guardish, but he has the height/length and handles to make up for it. The 3s he hits will become long 2s in the NBA so it's essential that he continues to improve on his handles so he can continue to get to the rim and FT line against bigger, stronger, NBA guards. Have to love his high bball IQ and composure though.

well ****, did the Mayor ever throw a NBA scare at us last night! We need ski to regain his form STAT or he's gonna keep putting up 25 points a game.

He made it look very easy at times last night. He is the one guy who always seems to play within himself. He gave Eikmeier fits on both ends.

Poor Eikmeier looked so outclassed. Well, he was. By a young guy who talked trash in the media.

No doubt!

Mayor is turning into a special player.

Spencer is predicted to go 17th now in the 2014 draft and 37th on the big board. Booker better get out of his slump so Dinwidddie can start passing again. We don't want Spencer moving into 2013 mock drafts.

I love the whole team but my goodness, Ski is reminding me more and more of Devin Harris out there. Impossibly quick combo guard who isn't tall enough to be a SG, but doesn't have the PG skills to be a PG. I appreciate his defensive effort but man he has a tendency to chuck and when his shots aren't falling, he's not doing a whole lot else out there.

This x infinity. By the second half I was screaming at the tv every time he'd take a long jumper. when it's not there, he's got to know when to quit forcing it and either pass or drive to the basket.

Ski is a great shooter and when he gets an open look he should take it. He is in a slump and will come out of it. I love his no fear attitude and when he is making the shots he is dangerous, no need to change his attitude/game.

Ski is a Ben Gordon type volume shooter. Good and bad. I wish Boyle would take him out when he is playing like he did last night. If Booker is in there, he is going to shoot, and Boyle gives him a green light. So Boyle should take the decision out of Ski's hand, and sit him when he is like he was last night.
I kept wondering if he was sick.

The Mayor was awesome.

last night was the first time I can remember seeing Ski NOT take a wide open shot. He's hurtin.

Ski needs to get out of the gym for a day or two. I know he's a gym rat, but he needs to not touch a basketball for 24 hours. He's in his own head, and is holding himself back.

Yeah, the head slaps after some of those shots were telling - he was trying to hard in the middle of the second half last night. Glad he got the fast break layup to not end on a string of misses, we will need him back on for Saturday.

He also clanked a dunk but the play was dead.

I disagree. He's got to learn when he's cold that he should not continue to chuck up long jumpers. That will only come with experience, though. This team needs him, no doubt about that.

Boyle also needs to avoid putting him on the court with Tunks, Talton, and Stalzer.

Like Ziskin said on twitter today -- that lineup is maddening, but also brilliant. Tad is willing to throw a game in November if it leads to us being better in March. Forcing them to figure it out is huge. It just sucks in the present.

Things like this, the Gordon (and to a lesser extant Jenkins) redshirts lead me to believe Tad is planning on staying here awhile. He is willing to sacrifice wins early in the years for the benefit of the end of the year, but more importantly he is building for future success in years beyond this one. It is crazy to think that this year may be the worst year we have in the next few years.

Whats even crazier is that we are 7-1. Most pegged us to be 5-3 or possibly 4-4 heading into this road trip.

Looks like the weight room has paid off. Dude is ripped now. Look at him compared to his hs picks in when we were recruiting him.

For sure, he wrote this on twitter yesterday.

Spencer Dinwiddie ‏@SDinwiddie_25 All I want is for ppl to realize I aint 6'4 185 anymore...6'6 200 solid

Check out this video of him working out the summer before he came to CU.

Gottleib (who actually knows a thing or two about hoops) was trying to say yesterday he was a "solid combo guard but not a NBA player". To that I say, what more do you want out of a player? He is 6-6 can play on and off the ball, shoot the 3, rebound and guard the other team's best player.

I think his lack of lateral quickness/hops could be exposed in the NBA - but his size might be enough for him to make up for it. I don't know.

Tweeners and combo guards rarely pan out. Basketball is meant to be played with set positions and guys who dont have a position, usually have a major flaw in their game that prevents them from doing so. The D-League is full of them.

Dinwiddie has height and plays defense so he's not the typical "combo guard." He's more like Burks, a SG with PG tendencies. Roberson and Booker are the tweeners.

The Miami Heat find this interesting.
