The myth of “Good Montez.”

There’s been discussion on this board about “good” Montez and “bad” Montez and week in and out hoping we get the good version. The problem with that is, I don’t think “Good Montez“ actually exists. How many times has he put together a performance, from start to finish, that people would consider good? 2016 Oregon? ASU this year? Hardly enough to consider it a pattern of consistently good play. More often, we get wildly inconsistent play or awful games like tonight. It’s painfully obvious that he is a below average college QB.

Yep, him and consistent shouldn't collide in the same sentence. Actually, I take that back, but not for good reasons. (y)

He’s struck me as immature ever since he started. I want a icy calm serious look on my QBs face. Like Manny Wilkins, Adrian Martinez, etc. I get nervous when we play a team with a QB with that look. He’s gotten more mature, but not commensurate with his rank.

And failing that, I’ll take a guy with a little emotion to his play, IF there’s passion and determination behind it. Like Sefo. I just get the impression Monty thinks he’s better than he is, and just really loves being the starting QB at a big D1 program, and his opinion of himself is validated by the fact that apparently he’s done enough to get that.

Adrian Martinez?

Him being a starter is wholly a reflection of horrible recruiting by CU staff. Wish Tucker has made getting a grad transfer QB his first priority. Totally could have made a bowl game with a competent QB. And it’s obvious we don’t have one on the roster at any level.

I've have had enough of Montez. I want to see the other guys, Lytle and Stenstrom, get time and development on the field. I would be pleased to see Montez ride the bench from here out.
