I just finished re-watching the game, and focused mainly on the line play. I will preface this by saying I have not played on the line, these are just observations of a fan.

First drive, the third down sack. CSU puts 5 on the line (4 linemen and 1 backer). Backer lines up between left DT and DE, and stunts to the center. CU RT (Haigler) crashes down and the LDE goes unblocked at Montez for the sack. Not sure the call of assignments, but 5v5 no one should go free. Not sure how the blocking assignments were called out, but a clear miss.

Second drive, same set up, same f-up. Except Montez throws the ball so quickly he doesn't get hit.

If Kaiser is really our second best LT, I'm a bit worried.

In the first half, there were a few stunts that we had a tough time with. Exchanges weren't smooth.

In the beginning of the second half, CSU did more of this, and we continued having trouble. The RB helping with protection focused on up the middle. Seemed that the tackles were expecting help with guys coming around the edge. This caused pressure on a few occasions.

I know they say that the most progress a team makes is between week one and two. I hope we see a huge leap in line play.

Missing Irwin is huge. Not only from the standpoint that he is far and away our best lineman at this point (pro prospect) but also because missing him does major damage to our line coordination. @FlaBuff Can explain better than I can how that coordination is among the linemen but lots of missed assignments happen when it is lacking.

Don't know if Kaiser is our second best LT. Remember we were also missing Miller who drew a lot of praise in camp before suddenly not getting mentioned. Get him back behind Irwin and suddenly we might be much better.

CSU doesn't have great DL talent but they have some experience and a solid DC. Shouldn't be surprised he saw a weakness created by our suspensions and youth and took advantage. Next two weeks will give us the opportunity to clean things up.
