"The Show" All-Star Game April 9th at the Pepsi Center - see future Buffs

9NEWS/KUSA - The lineups for The Show 2011 - the state's annual boys and girls basketball all-star games - were announced at a press conference at the Pepsi Center on Monday.

The teams, chosen by selected members of the state media who cover high school sports, will compete at the Pepsi Center on April 9, before the Denver Nuggets game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The girls all-star game will tip off at 1:30 at the Pepsi Center, followed by the boys game at 3 p.m.

Presented by the Denver Nuggets and Gold Crown Foundation, the competition will bring together the best boys and girls basketball players from around the state.

Specially-priced ticket packages are available now that include both high school games plus the Nuggets-Timberwolves game. Tickets start at just $12. These ticket packages are only available through the Nuggets Group Ticket Sales offices at 303.287.DUNK.

Dominique Collier is only a freshman and was just named to the under-16 USA national team. He should be one of the top 2014 prospects in the country. Adding him and Chris Thomas might help us a little bit...

I don't know, Nik. I guess they could be targeted for the spring signing period, correct? If they're both seniors, I suppose that makes them '11 prospects.

Maybe the classification surprised me some, since I thought Tad was finished with this class. Do you know if the staff plays to sign 1 or 2 more players?

Great to see the excitement build for these incoming guys and all of the Colorado high school athletes. It is good not only for the Colorado program but Colorado High School hoops as well. This should be a really great show and I intend to be there. After all, we have a long dry spell before practice starts next October.

He committed during the early signing period. Never showed up in connection with CU. Scout ran an article on his commitment:

Agree. I wondered after I saw Nik's list of his interested schools if maybe he was one of those late-bloomers who exploded in his senior year, after he had signed with Buffalo, because that is a pretty weak list of schools for a HS AA, even third teamer.

I called this number and learned that if you are interested in seeing only "The Show" and not the Nuggets game, you can simply walk up and buy tickets at the Pepsi Center on Saturday for $7 ... general admission ... and you can sit just about anywhere for this event. So, if you have thought about it, but did not want to commit to being at the Pepsi Center from about 1:00 PM until late that night, this is a great, economical option to see two of our 2012 commitments as well as some other potential targets and the best players in Colorado High School ball. See you there.

Watched the East-Boulder game at the Coliseum. Was very impressed with Collier, he did a couple boneheaded things, but he's also 14, so I'll let that slide. Grabau outplayed him though. Josh Scott was the games leading scorer with 17 points. Wesley Gordon had 6 points and 7 rebounds. The game is being replayed on Altitude at 5:30 on Sunday, 2:30 on Monday and 7:30 on Tuesday but frankly it gets boring after about 5 minutes.

Chris Thomas is every bit good as advertised. Number 3 ranked player in his class. Has the potential to be a one and done. The guy that said he might help a bit was making a huge understatement. He would have been the best player in Colorado LAST year. If you didn't know, he started off at Montbello transferred to a prep in Maryland and just recently a prep in Arizona. Right now Arizona definitely has the inside track on him. He'll have offers from every major in college basketball before he's a senior. If you want to see him play, this weekend he's in town playing for his AAU team the Colorado Hawks in the Double Pump spring tourney at the Gold Crown basketball facilities in Lakewood, along with CU recruit Wes Gordon. Josh Scott will also be playing in the tourney with the Colorado Chaos elite squad. As far as Josh and Wes, Josh is more skilled offensively and probably the better player, but Wes is better defensively, very good shot blocker, but needs work on the offensive end. Grabau and Hansen.... Hansen has signed with DU, which is probably his wheel house. Grabau has offers from Western Kentucky and just recently Wyoming. As bad as Wyoming is that might not be a reach, but the Mountain West certainly is a reach for Grabau. By deduction he's not a PAC ten player. I think Tad was trying to get him to walk on. As far as X Ford goes, he could certainly play for CU and probably the best player in the state. Don't pay any attention to the Denver Post and their all-state teams they're out of the loop without question. Dom Collier along with Sheron Wilson and Josh Perkins are all freshman that CU is interested in recruiting. While I think that Dom is ahead of the other 2 right now, Sheron Wilson may end of the best out of the three. He's 6'3/6'4 can handle, shoot, and has bounce. He goes to Doherty HS in the Springs and will probably end up with 2 or 3 more inches in size. His dad is 6'6 and his mom is 6'0. Perkins is at Regis.

Talton is pretty good, but I think he's probably more of a mid-major guy, although I've heard that Gonzaga is interested in him. He could end up at CU. And fyi Collier, Wilson, play on the same AAU summer team that Chauncey Billups sponsors, at least they did last year. I also heard yesterday that CU's trying to get all three on campus (Perkins, Wilson, and Collier) before the fall for unofficials and trying to get early commits from all three. I think Perkins is a mistake but Collier and Wilson will have plenty of options in three years. Here's an ESPN link of the top 100 freshman, they have Perkins at 13 and Collier at 26. They also have a kid from Florence Colorado on there but that's inaccurate. good stuff man. How sure you on that Thomas left for AZ in order to be closer to UoA? I thought he left due to family down in Phoenix?

That ESPN list is interesting...I'm surprised to see Collier rated behind Perkins, but yeah...it's a list of freshmen and they change pretty significantly. The freshman class in CO is definitely shaping up though to be one of the more special ones we've ever had. It'll be interesting to see what Talton does this summer - I think he has ability to be a contributor on more than just a mid-major program.

I'm pretty sure because most, if not all of his family is here in Denver. BTW, I didn't know if you all knew this or not, but Michael Ray Richardson is Chris's dad, but he lives and was raised by his grandparents. On my out the door now to see them play over at the Gold Crown facilities.

Yeah...I think this was mentioned in the Denver Post or something...I forget where I heard that he was Richardson's son. I'm too young to have seen him play, but his highlights are really smooth...one of the sadder stories, but it looks like he has his life together these days.

It's even better reading that Chris Thomas is growing up to be a good person. I heard that he was a cocky SOB when in seventh/eighth grade, but reading the articles, it sounds like his time away from his CO influences has been really beneficial. Of course, the paper could be completely fooled (I remember reading an article about a Rockies pitcher once that painted him as a calm kid, when he was actually an insane partier). I'm choosing to hope that Thomas has matured into a good kid.
