There is a tire fire in Tucson

Normally, revelations of the head basketball coach being caught on FBI wiretaps discussing payments to a recruit would be easily the worst thing to happen for an AD for a long time. But it sure looks like things are about to get much worse before they get better in Tucson.

Federal lawsuit was amended to include some pretty explosive new charges. It appears former football player Orlando Bradford, sentenced to five years in prison in November on two aggravated assault guilty pleas, had very little oversight from the AD.

Of course, recently fired Rich Rodriguez is also facing a lawsuit of his own, filed by his former office assistant. The AD was recently added in a second claim:

And we cannot forget the charges filed against a former track and field coach for stalking one of his athletes. He is scheduled to go on trial next month:

Good Lord.

It's getting to the point where I am getting too weary of the growing list of cesspool ADs. Major college athletics have been infiltrated by scum who put the personal development of the athletes below their greed and desire to win at all costs.

Makes it really hard to appreciate college football and basketball any more. Even if the program you support is clean, you don't stand a chance against all of the filth.

The NCAA declawed itself years ago and stopped being an enforcer of major rules violations. They now allow schools to “self report” and set their own punishment. Forget ethical violations that don’t fall under the NCAA “rules.” Players committing rape, theft, or whatever, fall under their universities auspices. That works really well when the AD is the most powerful office on campus and is backed by boosters that donate big money to both the AD and the school.

It’s crazy to me to see the NCAA just sit back. I did the business of sports program at CU in 2012 and we had a guest speaker for a couple hours from the NCAA office in Indy. She was a straight up bulldog and defended every position they took in recent memory and just seemed like she wouldn’t let anything slide. Not sure if she is still there or not but how do you have people like that in your organization and then let things go like they have the last couple of years?

I would think UA has a long way to catch up with ASU in the NCAA violations department.

How does a tire fire compare to a dumpster fire?
