OK. Seriously people. I re-watched the game on tape and even watched some plays 2 or 3 times. It has become clear that CU Football is so far away from being meaningful again. I'm not just saying it's all the football programs fault either... Here's my observations. I want to start a good dialogue on this as maybe I'm too depressed after yesterday. But losing to a lousy CSU team is proof of how far away this program is. It's time to make some SERIOUS changes to resolve this. Anyways....

  1. It starts at top - Until the administration cares about sports (not just football) nothing will change. We need top coaches, facilities and athletes and support systems around all those that promote 'winning'.
  2. Eric Bienemy is NOT an OC - What has he done anywhere to validate his OC status? He's horrid and it shows.
  3. We have 'zero' team speed - Nothing where we need it most: RB, WR, DB and LB. Absolutely nothing there. We are dead meat in Pac 12.
  4. Is Hawkins still coaching and playing QB? - This team looks a whole heck of a lot like Danny boy and Cody boy's team. I think Webb is Hawkins actually. It's eerie how similiar these teams look to be honest.
  5. OL and DL are terrible - Dominated by CSU on both fronts. The outside DL was OK. Interior DL was a joke. OL... well this is probably the most pathetic performance of any one group.
  6. Why not play the RB's that weigh more than 180?? - I'm so tired of these tiny backs that can't get it done or stay healthy. Get the younger and bigger guys some reps!!!!!
  7. Your telling me these are the best WR's on the roster? - If that is the case we are in deep doo doo. These guys are ALL possession receivers that lack the #1 thing a WR needs to bring "Big Play Capability". Pac 12 will cover these guys easily. Especially if the QB is scrambling for his life.
  8. DB's very young, they need to just play - Put them out there to learn and they will. It might get ugly in some Pac 12 games but will pay off.
  9. If they play young DB's, why not QB? - Why have some average QB with experience (4 wins in 2 years?). Just play our future to get experience. There has to be a QB that has better talent than this. Are our coaches so crappy the can't coach these guys up in any positions?

Bottomline is, I think we are the Iowa State of the Big 12 in the Pac 12. It's going to take some serious changes and commitment from the top. I honestly think we need a proven national coach too. There are many out there to choose from both with NFL and College experience. Why can't we land the hottest candidates? I think it's the 'commitment' from the University...

I think we should resign ourselves to being Duke of the PAC XII. Good basketball...hopefully great soon...****** football...

I wonder now if the D2D and Cody thing isn't an apt comparison. Only Embrees Cody is EB. Everyone wanted him, and to make him happy they made him the OC.

With that said, if I pick one guy to replace, it is Marshall. Can we get a top hs line coach in here to try to help? Hell, I hate waiting a full year to get a replacement. But the inability of the OL to block lost us the game yesterday. Other mistakes hurt, but were mistakes. The OL on the other hand, got owned all day. That killed us more than anything. Made playcalling gun shy, lost the game.

I dont disagree.

Damn, if there's a signal that we're in deep, deep trouble as a program, it's not some guy joining the site and starting a thread that has been essentially started 20 times already. It's that D3H has changed his avatar!

I cant take it anymore. CU homes games were the best 6 weekends of the year, but they have taken all the fun out of it. We have one of the best tailgates spots on campus and Im not even looking forward to going next weekend.

Yeah because signing up to a new msg board determines the validity of you comments. GFY

The AD has the herculean task of going about turning the ship around all by their lonesome. The people of Colorado have made it clear that funding higher education is not a priority. Thus, I believe the CU administration has to spend more time than most other public universities fund raising. Considering the amount of time and energy they spend trying to keep the academics afloat they probably don't have a lot of time for the AD. It's just the way it is.

Agree with GoDonkeys' points. All the hours and hours I've wasted on a crappy product. You wouldnt keep the same ol engine that keeps failing over and over again would you? Time for a new one, or even a whole new car (admin).

Just drink enough to make sure you can't remember what happens after the tailgate is over and you will be fine.

I think its too soon to call Embry a failure. When one of your dt is a converted tight end, when your tight end is a converted defensive end, when your senior safety gets injured, when three muffed punts occur; and I suggest this is because were playing freshman who are nervous, not necessarily bad coaching, it makes me think we should exercise some patience....We also had a lot of dropped passes from freshman playing their first games...You might think its a poor analogy, but I liken this to starting a typical rookie QB (ie not Cam Newton or Andrew Luck) in the NFL. All the coaching in the world will not help overcome nerves, that just comes with game experience. Unfortunately, few of our players have it, and as I already mentioned, some that do have the game experience at a position they have never played before....We are one year from having our third string running back start as a corner.....Strangely, my football views echo my political views. We cannot experience miracles when the person in charge was in such a deep hole to begin with....I also want to see what CSU does the rest of the year. Klatt alluded to them looking very deep during the offseason especially on the D-line. When you combine that with an experience CSU o-line going up against guys with limited experience, bad things can happen regardless of the coaching...One game is too limited of a sample to suggest that Embree needs to go.

Those are all valid excuses for getting blown out by USC/Oregon, but not CSU. CSU owns those excuses 4x more than CU and they crushed us. If we stick with Embree, we will have 10 straight losing seasons.

GoDonkeys, your first post is one of the best first posts ever and I repped you for it. OTOH, your second one was, like, WTF?

After KSU got rid of Prince, Synder took over and went 6-6, then 7-6 and 10-2. They've gone 23-15 since he returned. It can be done. For one, they have an AD that gives a **** and doesn't send his new coach to play at places like tOSU and if we have a new one when we get UM at the Big House too he will be just as screwed.

Good coaching overcomes playing crappy teams. Upsets happen. We understand, but you are supposed to win games like yesterday's against a first-time HC at one of the worst D1 teams.
