I know, lots of "Jones" threads. But it would be nice to compile a thread on our opinion about Mr. Jones.

I believe he and "Trace" played us like a cheap date. What he and Mr. Trace did to CU is just despicable. We deserved more respect, IMO. But, listening to Klatt, Al and the rest of the B4L, I believe they would disagree with me.
 
I think Butch played CU as a business decision. Just played us. It is not Bohn's Woody's or anyones fault except Butch and his agent.

What is hilarious though are all the reports of being "genuinely torn about leaving Cincinnati"...and "waiting to tell the kids in person." In the end the guy is a lot more cut out for the cutthroat world in BCS/SEC football than I thought he was. Curious to see if he bailed just for Tennessee, or if he actually convinced them to pay him north of 3 million.

He simply used our negotiations to give him leverage with Cincinnati and Tennessee.
 
He did this to Marshall before going to Cincy.
Then he flirted with UCLA and other schools last year.
He does this to Kentucky, Purdue, and us.

I hope SEC fans give him a hard time. I wonder if Petrino and him are buddies.

I agree that Jones is douche for what he did, and we are better off without him.

However, Bohn and company DO NOT get a pass for not thoroughly vetting him and letting him play us for as long as he did. Total bulls h i t and amateur.

He's a jerk. It's not because he turned us down, but because of how the entire process played out. Obviously, coming off a 1 win season, I can't sit here and say we "dodged a bullet" by not getting a guy who wins 9 games a year. However, it sure would be nice to look back a few years from now with satisfaction that fate played out and we ended up landing a great coach.

This is hardly the first time I'll point this out, but Vol fans have some MAJOR, MAJOR issues. Easily top 3 in the SEC in terms of being psychos/creeps, and quite arguably number 1 (don't be fooled, Bama is like this too. They're just content right now. Travel back pre-Saban and have a look).

Butch is at fault, but was looking out for his own hide and he appears to have succeeded. Bohn failed miserably for himself and CU. If he had any spine, he wouldn't have allowed the shenanigans to go on for so long

Jones in the long run will not have succeeded unless you only look at it from a monetary perspective. He's ****ed in Knoxville

Are you gonna bitch about Bohn in every ****ing thread ? The thread was titled "Thoughts about Jones". You made your point. Do we have to read it over and over and over ?
 
Wow.

The CU program just can't get a single break... or even get out of it's own way, DAMN.

Just for example, Utah's coach turned down Tennessee a few years ago (2010) to stay at Utah... AND we were still in the Mountain West.

This catastrophe with Jones working the angles isn't helping the way the program is viewed from the outside.

Stinkin' thing looks systemic from out here.
