"I tell you what, I was kind of surprised when they hit the two slants down there, that they scored on, we hit him right in the mouth, I mean we drilled the quarterback. I was impressed with their execution. I knew that Spruce, No. 22, we knew he was a good receiver. We thought going into the game their receiving corps were better than it had been and they had a good plan and did some good things. But yeah I was impressed they executed there. We did what we wanted to do and they beat man coverage and executed flawlessly. We had guys all over them so I was impressed. I was impressed with how they put pressure on the quarterback. I thought they played hard, I really did. Going into the game we knew we had a better football team than they did and they played a lot better than I thought they were capapble of to be real honest with you. Dang good football coach. We're not related or anything, dang good football coach. I want to congratulate Coach Mac. I am just telling you, you have a tremendous football coach here. I thought they showed tremendous heart and determination. We were rolling along there, thought we were fixing to make it 21-0, those guy were fighting and scratching. You can tell they are coached with a lot of character and heart."
 
Great to hear that kind of stuff.

Let's take care of business against Hawaii and see where this goes from there.
 
He forgot to mention that we were stealing signals. It's how Graham identifies character and heart.
 
Ok, a nod of the cap. In his case that is about as gracious as I have heard. I agree with him per head coach MacII. I continue to think MacII is going to gain complete buy in as that has been his past.
 
I don't like him. Going for two in the first quarter rubbed me the wrong way. Can't really tell if he is a good coach. ASU is more talented than CU.

I go back and forth on Graham, the 2 point conversation try ticked me off to. But, he could have put at least a hundred on us last year, and instead called off the dogs towards the end of the 2nd quarter.
 
I have no problems with the 2-point attempt. If you can get more points, take them.
 
Wait'll we play Oregon. Don't they almost always go for the 2 pt. conversion after their first score? It should be a stupid play because a defense should stop it more than 50% of the time.
 
He owns the buffs. Why would he say something bad about mm and risk the chance we bring in someone he doesn't own? Coach-speak. We are going to hear lots of nice things said about our staff this year. Start kicking all their asses with extreme prejudice like we used to do and we will get to hear some truthful hate from the likes of mercenary graham.
 
I'd want to recruit against the likes of this staff if I was him too. The team did well, but he has his own agenda.

Asu is screwed with that backup QB.
 
my feeling in that talking us and Mac a bit he's really performing apologetics for his own squad. but, that he did have to say some nice things is a pretty welcome situation for us.

I have no problem at all with them going for two. It is a good move especially on the road after a quick score; just a way to encourage a team to exert it's dominance.

My problem with it was how they tried to execute the conversion. It would take a very talented and oddly jointed individual to snap a ball like that. Essentially TG was willing to act outside of the rules, if the refs called the bad snap he was ok with the 5yrd penalty otherwise he was gonna take 2pts to the bank. Make me think (not suggesting) if there is a penalty on a conversion the point should be forfeited and not allowed to re try or make it a much more serious yardage penalty.
 
Going for two, running it up, leaving the starters in... All these things are done to teams that the better team believes will not be able to make you pay for down the road. Bottom feeders don't get payback. They just get beat down again. You want respect? You want the other team to not pull classless bush league moves? Then make them ****ing pay. Make them pay so that it hurts and they remember. We want to see Colorado get treated the way we used to be? We have to punch them in the mouth and win. Relying on the good graces of your opponent when they don't believe you'll ever be a danger to them is pure folly. Get mad and get even.

For the longest, playing CU meant you you were going to be smacked in the mouth again and again, until you folded. That's a mental edge we had partly because of the altitude, but mostly because of the attitude the Buffs possessed for a very long time.

The altitude advantage can be more mental than physical, but if CU can regain the killer instinct, owning the other team's psyche is what matters. Confidence kills - the Buffs gained a good deal of confidence yesterday. It's a step in the right direction that needs to be capitalized on. I think (hope?) MM can capture some of yesterday's magic.

Translation: damn you for closing practice last week.
 
Going for 2 in the first quarter is bad football. So is passing up field goals before the 4th quarter like Oregon does all the time. They did that against Stanford last year and as it turned out could have used those points in the 4th quarter. Downright ****ing stupid to play like that.
 
Arizona State head coach Todd Graham, displeased with only 24 points against a Buff team which had surrendered 47 in thirty minutes a year before, told his team on the sideline before the start of the third quarter that the Sun Devils were going to score on every possession in the second half.

Coaches don't say bad about each other. It's like A-list movie stars...they all say nice things about each other because you never know where the next job is coming from and you have to see each other at events.
 
I hope our coaches save that quote. When we are back as a contender in the Pac 12 South, we can remember this and score on every possession against ASU. I hate their basketball team, esp for the concussion they delivered to Josh Scott season before this last one. Now I am finding I hate their football team too.

**** everything about that school...pure scum. Never thought they'd be my most hated school in the Pac 12, but sure enough they are.

He's a really, really horrible human being?

Seriously, he's about as slimy a head coach, as they come. I'm guessing you know his history, but if you don't, he got his first HC job at Rice. They had a good year (went from 1-10 to 7-5) and he said all the usual, "I want to take Rice to the big time...I want to be the Joe Paterno of Rice...etc." He signed a big, new contract extension and bolted for Tulsa about 2 days later. He stayed there a couple of years then left for Pitt. He stayed there all of 1 year and left for ASU, employing the always classy, having his Football Ops guy text the team to tell them that the coach is gonzo.

I think I've posted it before, but the Marching Owl Band (MOB) did a great halftime show when Rice played Tulsa, the year after he left Rice. http://mob.rice.edu/history/scripts/200711240

There is nothing wrong with coaches leaving their current jobs for a better one, and they get to be the judge of what constitutes a better job. But there are good ways to make that transition and there are bad ways to make that transition.

Is he really a horrible human being? I don't know. But his actions as a head football coach suggest he might be.
