Pretty simple way of looking at it.beginning in 1936, if you finished a season ranked #1, you earned 25 points while finishing #25 earned you 1 point.

Here's the Top 40:

CU is 17 points behind Stanford, so would need to finish 8th or better in the AP this year to move up.

 
Jeez the last 18 ish years did a number on CU. They used to put this in the media guide and around 2005/6 we were definitely top-30. Im almost positive we were top 25 bc VT was top 25 and it shocked a friend of mine who went there. (Speaking of VT - the past decade has not been kind to them either yikes)
Pretty sure we were up as high as #18 or #19 in the mid/late ‘90s.
