Sorry that I missed this earlier, but the Track and Field teams will be competing today and Saturday at two different meets. Some members of the team will be competing at the Don Kirby Invite hosted by the New Mexico Lobos. The meet starts Friday at 4 p.m. MT, and is followed up Saturday at 10:30 a.m. This is an absolutely loaded field with eight men’s teams ranked in the top 25 by the U.S. Track& Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, while seven women’s squads own that distinction. The No. 3 Oregon men headline the men’s competition, which also includes No. 8 Arizona, No. 12 UTEP, No. 14 Arizona State, No. 20 Stanford, No. 21 Akron, No. 24 USC and No. 25 Mississippi. The women’s field features No. 2 Oregon, along with No. 9 Stanford, No. 13 UCLA, No. 18 Michigan, No.20 Akron, No. 21 Arizona State and No. 23 Arizona.

Meanwhile, other members will be competing in the Husky Classic hosted by the University of Washington in Seattle. Here is a preview from UW:
The indoor track season reaches an apex this weekend with the annual Husky Classic, as the Dempsey welcomes in many of the nation’s top teams for a huge weekend that will go a long way towards shaping the NCAA Championship picture. Half of the teams in the top-25 of the men’s and women’s rankings will be represented in the Dempsey this weekend. The Husky Classic frequently features the fastest distance races on the indoor schedule, many times faster than the NCAA meet itself, as teams send their top contenders to Seattle in hopes of running season-bests that will qualify them for the NCAA Indoor meet just a month away on March 14-15. Thirteen of the top-25 men’s teams in the country will be in attendance, and 12 of the top-25 women’s teams will be on hand, though many teams send just a handful of athletes.

Top-10 teams on the men’s side include No. 1 Arkansas, No. 2 Florida, No. 3 Oregon, No. 6 Florida State, No. 7 Penn State, and No. 8 Arizona, while there will be five top-10 women’s teams including No. 2 Oregon, No. 4 Florida, No. 5 Georgia, No. 6 Arkansas, and No. 9 Stanford. The Husky women’s team remains ranked 22[SUP]nd[/SUP] this week.

Friday’s Husky Classic begins at 4:00 p.m. with the weight throws and the 200-meter dashes. Friday night will be highlighted by the invitational sections of the 5,000-meters, set to go at 5:30 p.m. and featuring numerous All-Americans and conference champions. Friday also features the secondary pole vault flights and distance medley relays.

Saturday picks up early at 8:00 a.m. on the track and starts at 10:00 a.m. in the field. The invitational sections, which feature the two fastest heats in each event except the hurdles, begin at 3:05 p.m. and run until the men’s invite 4x400m relay wraps up at 5:30 p.m. The UW Indoor Open on Sunday is set for a 9:00 a.m. start.
