Two-week layoff

really useful. basically have an extra week of training camp now. Get powell healthy, get lots of reps for adkins and abron.

I HATE not having a Buff game to watch this weekend (it's been so damn fun...) ...but this might be a good thing for us (as others suggest already).

Two weeks to plan/scheme specifically for one opponent (when they only get one week to plan for us), heal up the dings...and, let's be honest, probably have a better chance to go to 3-0 than we had if we played FSU this week. I live in Oregon. My wife's whole family are OSU alumni, I know a LOT about that team...Fresno tomorrow was more scary to me than the Beavers two weeks from now. Our chances of going 3-0 just got better IMHO.

Gives Plati extra time to traverse the stadium.

I suggest he do so by sitting in every seat in the House. Would give him the proper perspective! nobody would miss his lame attempts at jokes or his meaningless trivia stats.

Mods: Noticed Boyd and I posted threads that should be merged with this one.

Am I the only one that thinks 3 weeks off isn't good when this is the first time in several years we have tasted winning? 3 weeks between games is an eternity.

If it was our last staff, I would be afraid. With this staff I am convinced they will have a plan and we will be better after the break, not worse.

I guess it can be a good thing. I am just so damn disappointed not to see the Buffs this weekend and to see how we would have fared. This was such a measuring stick game. I was excited to see how far we have come...or not. Got to look at it as glass half full but having 3 weeks before we play the next game is tough for the team and especially the fans.

Painful as it is to admit it, DiStiff actually made a good decision for once. Focus on the community and have the players help the students who were displaced with moving and cleaning. Use this as a goodwill opportunity and move forward. Should be interesting to see us play Fresno late in the year as this is something many people wish we could do with CSU.

Ya it kinda sucks to lose some momentum from the last two games. Plus we're off the college football scene pretty much the whole month.

Might be good in the sense that we will have the time to rest and extra time to prepare for OSU, but it also means that we'll be back to playing ten straight weeks if that October bye ends up getting filled with the FSU make-up game.

We will be rusty. We might be down double digits early on the road. The key will be to be within a score at half.

i'd rather play.

but, the potential for something bad to happen around the stadium and the raging, swollen creek (for those of you who haven't seen or been in Boulder).....is staggeringly high. i've lived here most of life and almost the last 20 years and i've never seen anything like it. it's not safe.

36 was closed last night in places....and no buses are running in Boulder today. no access to the stadium or campus from the north whatsoever, really. big jump up to gameday traffic with more rain on the way.

I'm not sure how not playing this game gives us more time to prepare. We have the same two weeks we were going to have. Now, if Mac foresaw a 500 year flood and started preparing for OSU on Monday knowing we were going to postpone this game...

It would have been a good measuring stick, but it was the right decision.

It is really too bad that we did not put the practice bubble up early this year and insure it for $50 million dollars.

This could be a blessing. More time to fix the mistakes from the first two games.

Yes I think this is definitely good for us. Powell gets another week to heal from his injury. We don't have to worry about PRich slipping on the field and tearing his ACL again, which is what my main concern was. And we would most likely have lost against Fresno so I don't think the extra week off "disrupts our momentum" like people were saying in the other thread. Losing this game would have disrupted our momentum even more

I'm cool with it. Preparation, preparation, preparation! If anyone told me we'd be heading into week 5 of the season undefeated, well, I'd have called you high.

How did the practice fields hold up in the flood? They're right off the creek.

This could be an issue although if neccessary they could practice in the stadium. I also wonder if any of the other football facilities were impacted by the flooding.

There also may be some issues in terms of making up classes and the rest of the issues that come with disasters of this type. Did any players get apartments flooded out, have girlfriends that got flooded out, have friends or family impacted? They have a lot of distractions to deal with because of this, these are still young men with lives and concerns past football

Coach Mac said today that several players (9, I think) got flooded out and were put up in a hotel last night...
