Should CU do something similar?

Damn - wish we'd done that first, that's freakin' sweet. Had me scared that it was all black - the predominant grey color looks boss.

Up close, it's really just the natural wood with a black varnish that picks up the knots and grains. The farther away you get, the blacker it looks.

When you are standing on the court its pretty bad quality. A darker black color would be better.

When I saw the thread title I thought this was gonna look ridiculous because I was expecting a true black court, but the black-tone wood actually looks good. Having said that I still prefer the more traditional look with the just the lane painted. Maybe use this black-tone wood in the lane. Wyoming does something like that (not the black, but a darker tone wood) and I think that looks good.

ESPN2 actually.

It looks really good.

EDIT: What I'd rather see is the whole court that way with the lanes black. The way it is now with the black lanes, the lighter tone inside the 3-point line, and then the black tone outside the 3-point line that's just too many different colors.

I like it. If they are replacing the floor they also need to design it so Ralphie can do a run before the game. That would get the crowd going.

Pretty sure these courts aren't allowed going forward: this is new in the rulebook this year.

Court Finish. (Rule 1-17.6).
The playing court must be completely finished in a manner that is similar throughout, including the 3-foot area outside each sideline and 6-foot area outside each end line. It is the responsibility of the host game management to ensure that the court is of a consistent finish, including any logos or decals that are legally allowed on the floor.

I don't think that relates to color, but to making sure that the traction is the same throughout regardless of the paint / stain / varnish. Just a guess, though. I could certainly be wrong.

On ESPN3 (started at 2 MST) is WBB UConn at UCF so you can get to see the floor during a game if you have any interest.

I think it looks pretty sweet, but I like traditional finish better.
