University of Arizona announcement

$80Million for a multi phase renovation of the arena. Look to Michigan's redesigned arena to see what type of look and feel UofA is going for.

Not surprised, I was there for my brothers graduation back in 2010, assuming they haven't changed much since then, I could see them wanting to update it.
 
Phase 1 is $30Mil. New seats, all Blue. Red seats replacing the yellow seats in the upper deck. New scoreboard going in in the center. Will be larger than the new one at Pauley Pavillion. Completely new floor. New locker room and player lounge area. Corner tunnels will be filled in and the center tunnel will be the only one in and out of the locker rooms.

No luxury suites or club seating?
 
Not in the phase 1 upgrade from what I heard. But phase 2 and phase 3 are where the bulk of the project will be coming in. I would imaging they will be putting in some suites at that point.

Take it they aren't going to have a problem playing games while this is going on? There isn't really an alternative venue I believe, can't see them playing in Phoenix for an entire season.

I wouldn't want to copy them... but the big block "C" used for the C-Unit and the letter jackets would look fantastic in the C-Unit section in black seats.

They'd fallen behind UCLA on facilities. That cannot stand.

I think they also try to keep up with the Joneses when it comes to New Mexico for the best arena in the region.

I like Pachoops, and if I remember you pretty cool after the buzzer-beater last year. "***********" isn't intended to be pejorative, by the way. It's simply a response to your boards' insistance on using the term "Rado" to reference our state/team/school.

But the "heavy lifting" was lifted (not heavily, mind you) straight from a Dick ***** poster on go cats, or some such place.

I don't know why your girl friend is so adamant of the opposite being true, because evidence on the board supports the fact that you are tireless in your use of the Dick.

First off, you crossed a line.

Secondly, it's not the frequency of the use that's concerning, mostly just the manner.
 
First step of renovations is just about complete.

Looks great. Unfortunate that the keg won't support that kind of beast in the rafters.

I was hoping the halftime singer microphone snafu on Saturday would make replacing the 1970's era speakers hanging in the Keg a priority - but apparently it was just someone using a dead mic. Someday, someday.......


Side note - what was up with the no Tuba, Tuba cheer - that was just sad.

Heh, I honestly am not a big fan of college stadiums getting closer and closer to NBA stadiums. Video Board, great, new bathrooms, even better, but complete renovations, making it become more and more of a spectical, Not that interested, I like the heritage of some of the older fieldhouses much more.

Director is not allowed to require attendance over break. Also the new guy is not allowing alumni to come back and participate in the band until conference play begins. Not enough Tubas = no tuba cheer.

Definitely agree with you but can't wait to see the new video board. The previous one was terribly small.
 
One of the specs for the new Dick ***** arena should include synchronizing the TV clock, scoreboard clocks, and buzzer lights.
