USA Today:How One QBs Decision Benefitted 2 Teams

“I said, ‘If you don’t want me to bring him in, I won’t even talk to him, OK?’ ” MacIntyre said. “And he looked at me dead in the eye, and he said, ‘We’ve got a really good football team next year, and I’ve got a broke Lisfranc. And I believe I’ll be back. If I’m not, if I was you and I was in your shoes, I’d try to go get him because I’m not well. But if I’m well, I’ll just beat him out.’ ”
I love me some Sefo.

Sefo is going to go down as one of the all time greatest Buffs. Not because he had more talent than guys like Kordell and Hagan, but because he didn't. The guy is a warrior. We have been privileged to see him during his time here. In 20 years, we will still bring up Sefo when we talk about the greatest to ever play here.

Nice! someone put pen to paper what Allbuffs already knew as the season went along.

thanks for posting

Another wonderful article ... but unlike the one about Rashaan, it makes me happy, not sad.

I particularly liked this:

What is certain is that Lifuau represents the guts of this team, this year, this rise. He’s a three-year captain who led Colorado through some of its darkest hours. Asked what Liufau meant to Colorado’s rise, MacIntyre summed it up in two words.

“Everything,” he said. “Everything.”

I'll even overlook the fact that what the author refers to as "two words" are in fact just the same word said twice. Because nevertheless it's poignant as hell.

We probably do marginally better with Webb as quarterback, but I do agree it helped us sort out our future a bit better at QB and the narrative is much more fulfilling.

except QB power right would not have worked with dwebb at helm. Montez would have been in 1st game after 1st series.

I remember attending the Buff's Spring Scrimmage last year (with literally hundreds (!) of others in friendly confines of Folsom). Sefo's foot situation was completely unresolved at the time. A man informed me that he just read that Webb was "visiting Cal" after Webb was all but formally signed at CU. That was depressing. Fast forward 8 months, and the present and future Buffs QB situation looks bright. Funny how things work out.

P.S.---After the Spring Scrimmage, they let all of us several hundred fans go onto the field and also go through the tunnel and tour the new facilities.

That's the thing. The QB power was a very difficult wrinkle for opposing defenses. They never have to face that in today's game. Put that together with your QB completing 60% of his passes while throwing half the time and I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like that.

You could argue that is how OSU won a title in 2014 season with Cardale Jones.

Like said above, it's been a privilege to have him play here. Dude gives you everything he has, can't put a price on that. It's pretty rare to see.
