Everybody knows I'm the eternal skeptic, but make no mistake, Colorado is going to crash the national scene this year and establish the program as a perennial powerhouse. Welcome to the party folks, we've arrived.
I think we arrived when we won the PAC tourney 2 years ago.
Locally we did, but nobody nationally really cared that much. I think we are going national as a respected program after this year.
The Pac-12 Tournament Championship was great for CU, but don't think nationally there was a perception that CU arrived. Winning regular season championships and/or going on deep runs in the NCAA tournament are what ultimately change people's perception about a program. As most know, the tournament is a bit of a crap shoot, in that it somewhat depends on your draw... plus anything can really happen in a single elimination tournament.
You mean like shutting down a couple NBA 1st rd picks only to have some Canadian douche rain a half dozen 3 pointers on you?
would be cool to see C-Unit give a loud ass "SHALL WE BEGIN!" at the begining of the games this season.
So glad you guys liked the video, and can only hope you are as fired up as I am for what lies ahead! THE FIRE RISES my friends! Follow me on Twitter @RealMatSmith (https://twitter.com/RealMatSmith) Voice of the Colorado Buffaloes for KVCU.
Vengeance of the Buffalo
Roll a great highlight video right before tip off. Have a leader down there in the student section count it off and the student section yell "now, shall we begin" right before tipoff. Would be awesome. Would be kind of cool to have the midnight madness event serve as a cheer session, teach the student section the cheers and all that. Similar to the aTm midnight yell before football games.
I'm skeptical. The voice is the video is so cool. It probably wouldn't sound right coming from a student or a bunch of students yelling at once.

yes. I love it. Unique and could be intimidating if done properly.
Am I the only one that found the "LIE STILL." chant at the beginning of games last year inappropriate?
They need to stop the C-O-L-O-R-A-D-O cheer. It is way too long and nobody gets into it.
I like the idea of teaching students & fans new cheers at Midnight Madness. That is the way to integrate new cheers and fan interaction. I have been thinking of great ways to pump up the crowd and have some great ideas. We need a more explosive atmosphere at Coors. I can't tell you how many times last year I was broadcasting the games and kept thinking, WHY ISN'T THIS CROWD HYPED?! At many other schools around the country they have a Hype Man for basketball games. For example, Cal has a great crowd at the Haas Pavilion because they are constantly interacting with fans. They have 4 Hype Men to face each side of the crowd. It works so well despite the fact that the cheers are pathetic. From the court, during timeouts, one guy will point to his side of the crowd and they yell "C", the next guy points to his side and yells "A" then the next guy points to his side and the crowd yells "L" and they start slow and speed it up to the point where C-A-L is spelled faster and faster. In my opinion the cheer itself is beyond stupid because it's so basic, but it works and really gets the crowd hyped. CU needs Hype Men! I am going to do my best to bring this to the attention of the Athletic Department because that alone will drastically improve the atmosphere at Coors.
We also desperately need a more energizing intro to games. I think it would be great if we could add flair to the beginning of basketball games. If we could dim the lights and shine a spotlight on the tunnel before CU ran out that would get the crowd pumped. If a hype man started the "I Believe That We Will Win" Chant either right before they ran out or right before tip off the crowd would get really into it. I have a lot more ideas and would love for the fan base to contribute.
It would also be great if CU could run a set play at the beginning of games sending XJ to the basket for a throwdown. Get the crowd involved EARLY, not just from the fans but the players as well...knowing Tad, that's a bit of a long shot though
Should we start a thread for ideas?
