BOULDER – The University of Colorado volleyball team will host a spring scrimmage this Saturday, April 13, at 2 p.m. at the Coors Events Center. Admission and parking are free. The scrimmage will be immediately followed by a reception with the team at Fate Brewery Company, a new local restaurant and sponsor of the Colorado Volleyball program. "These players are putting in the hours that it takes to improve, and we are excited to invite everyone in to catch a glimpse of the progress we are making in preparation for next season," coach Liz Kritza said. The next spring tournament will be on April 20 and the Buffs will travel to Kearney, Neb. to face Creighton, Wyoming, UNC, and host Nebraska- Kearney. The final event of the spring season brings an exciting twist as CU will host CSU in a sand volleyball competition at the Oasis in Broomfield, Colo. on April 26. "Having the ability to play sand volleyball in close proximity from campus is a great opportunity for players to enhance their training experience and get a glimpse of the possibilities that exist on our area for sand volleyball," Kritza said. The spring season has been going since March 5 and after a week off for spring break March 25-29, the Buffs have been back in the gym preparing for the 2013 season. Colorado finished the 2012 season with a 14-18 overall record. The Buffs finished the non-conference season with a 10-2 record and got off to an 11-2 start to the season, one of the best ever in school history. CU finished the Pac-12 season 4-16; tying for 10[SUP]th[/SUP] in the final league standings. |
