WBB off season news

Looks like, in spite of maybe (???) some foul trouble (she's shown ending with 4 fouls), it was a nice tournament opener for Ms. Hollingshed (who started and had 15 points on 7-10 shooting, 2 rebounds and 3 assists in 24 minutes of play) and her Puerto Rican team, which defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 82-58 today in their World Cup opener. (This is from the Box score at https://www.fiba.basketball/womensb...snia-and-Herzegovina-Puerto-Rico#tab=boxscore .)

Tomorrow (at least in the U.S.), looks like Puerto Rico faces off against the U.S. (who just finished defeating Belgium 87-72), with the game scheduled to begin at 6:20 PM MT, with coverage available on ESPN+.

Note - for anyone interested who has an ESPN+ subscription, replays look to be available on demand for games like Puerto Rico's win from earlier today.

With the exception of Tennessee and maybe Texas Tech, not impressed by the strength of schedule in the non-conference part of the season.

This is the team that went to Missoula for the Elite 8 and knocked off defending national champion Stanford. We won't talk about the next game against Sheryl Swoopes and Texas Tech.

The NCAA was so sure that we would lose that they had us at the same hotel as Texas Tech. There were not very many decent hotels in Missoula back then so that had two teams at the two official hotels.

Got to meet a lot of Texas Tech fans. We found out how they ran their fan club but could never convince CU to get onboard.

I have been fortunate to have seen teams coached by every person in the photo.

Not only was the game not live streamed, the post game press conference had no sound or picture.

Hard to tell anything from this exhibition as Adams State had few players over 5'8". The next opponent will be New Mexico State on Monday at noon. NMSU has 3 players on their roster 6 feet or taller. It might be a few games until we can get a sense of this team.

Does anyone know why we are playing at noon on a Monday?
Great question. I was wondering the same thing. Makes no sense as it's not a holiday and the CU players effectively have to miss all their classes to play the game.

And it's not gonna help attendance.

I was surprised when I realized it was at noon. Can't imagine it's day to get school kids in the gym but maybe it is.

Here's the story from JR. It's wacky.
Game was to be on Tuesday. But that's election day and NCAA came out with a statement saying that no games could be played on election day. So NMSU wanted to play on Monday but CU MBB already had a game scheduled for Monday night. So with the time needed between games, the WBB had to play at mid day. Then NCAA said "never mind ... it's OK to play on election day" but NMSU said they could no longer play on Tuesday. Thus we have a noon Monday game. Blame the NCAA.

NCAA incompetence FTW!
